One of the most interesting things I’ve seen on the live stage since beginning this little media journey of mine would have to be the band Apocalyptica. I mean who ever would have imagined a Heavy Metal band made up of mostly cellists and a drummer? Not me that’s for sure and I am happy to say that I’ve been a fan since I first heard them covering Metallica so many years so. Now the band has announced a brand-new US tour and their bringing along Lacuna Coil so check out the scoop down below. I’ll be back at the close.
The Press Release:
Today, Finland’s multi-Platinum cello-rock band Apocalyptica – classically-trained cellists Eicca Toppinen, Perttu Kivilaakso, and Paavo Lötjönen, and drummer Mikko Sirén – announces the Spring 2020 North American leg of the “Cell-0 World Tour.” This tour leg will launch on Sunday, May 3 in Orlando, FL, and see the band performing in 20 cities over a three-week period wrapping up on May 26 in Boston, MA. We are big fans of the Finnish sensation known as Nightwish here at the Metal Media Command HQ and I’ve just learned that a whole crop of South American and European dates were unveiled. The band has been in the press lately with news about their upcoming video release “Decades Live In Buenos Aires” and with a video clip reveal in “Devil and The Deep Dark Ocean” (reports which you can examine by clicking the highlighted text). Once you’re done you can take a look at those dates.
I guess it was just about a month ago when we helped to share the news about the upcoming Nightwish live concert video and album entitled “Decades Live In Buenos Aires” and now we have a clip from the concert to share with you for the song “Devil and The Deep Dark Ocean”. The song hails from the bands second album “Oceanborn” which was released in 1999. If you want to learn more about the upcoming release just click HERE for the lowdown and all of the different formats that you can get it in. Now it’s time to sit back and watch the video together.
PiercingMetal Thoughts: Historically speaking I’ve been listening to Nightwish since that second album and I even caught their first-ever NYC show when the band played the famous L’Amour club. My tenure as a fan has been so long that there wasn’t even a PiercingMetal yet for those who needed a reference point. Watching this video made me mentally relive the exciting concert that I witnessed last year at the Playstation Theater. It was the second time that Nightwish had played their and now with this venue closing its doors in December it can never happen again. Seeing them perform for an excited crowd in Buenos Aires is amazing because the overall sound of Nightwish is BIG and quite powerful. Everyone sounds amazing in the clip and it just made me more excited about owning a copy of this release when it hits the streets in December. Having seen some posts about European tours for the band one can only imagine that a US run will be announced in due time and when that happens my friends you should not waste any time in getting a ticket.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Perkele. This is some sad news for sure since the lineup of a few years in Children Of Bodom have been bringing their excellent brand of Melodic Death Metal to the masses for awhile. I will miss what they were all about but remain on the hopeful side for what is to come. Speaking frankly, I am thinking that COB ceases to exist as a thing and when the time is right to announce something, it will be something completely new under Laiho’s creative guidance. Considering how good so much of their output was I will close this up by saying “Onnea” to the guyds and wait for additional announcements. Thank you COB, goodnight.
