Back in May, Kerrang Magazine offered up the nominees for their “Kerrang Awards” and you can peruse the full list of who was up for what along with my own predictions by clicking HERE. Yesterday they announced who won and since I’d like to keep you in the know, I’ve shared that information below. Let’s take a look.
Best British Breakthrough Act:
Yonaka WINNER – IDLES
One of the things I’ve enjoyed doing over on “The Chronicles of Piercing Ken” website is to keep up with and share the nominations and results of a bevy of Awards Shows. If you’ve not seen the last batch of what’s been posted, just use THIS LINK to offer up a quick reference point but be aware that so much of them are in no way shape or form related to the Heavy Music or Geek Culture focuses that you find on PiercingMetal each and every day. This awards nomination list is being posted here because it comes from the legendary Kerrang Magazine over in the UK. Let’s take a look.
Best British Breakthrough Act:
5. Black Peaks
PiercingMetal Picks: Unable to vote this category.
Best International Breakthrough Act:
2. The Interrupters
4. Simple Creatures
5. Angel Du$t
Tonight, the Recording Industry is in a tizzy for “The Biggest Night In Music” (but that’s their own branding and not those of us here in the trenches support that which Rocks and Makes The Metal. Based on the time that I am posting this, we are still about 45 minutes away from the broadcast of the 2019 Grammy Awards but you Heavy Music loyalists don’t even have to tune in since they have already given out the awards for the five (count ’em FIVE) Rock and Metal Categories. I’ve listed those winners down below and left those who were also nominated to you can have a point of argument if your favorite didn’t end up winning the Grammy. Let’s go.
Best Rock Performance:
“Four Out Of Five” by Arctic Monkeys (from “Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino”) WINNER – “When Bad Does Good” by Chris Cornell
“Made An America” by THE FEVER 333 (from “Made An America”)
“Highway Tune” by Greta Van Fleet
“Uncomfortable” by Halestorm (from “Vicious”)
Last night was the third annual Revolver Golden Gods awards and since the PiercingMetal Command HQ is a regular reader of the magazine that hosted the awards, I wanted to present the winning names to the readers our official blog. I figured that you might enjoy seeing who won, and to make it a little more interesting I decided to speak to each category and give you my input on which winners I agreed with and which ones I didn’t. It’s kind of like when you watch the Academy Awards and scream “I cannot believe that Annie Hall beat Star Wars for Best Picture”. OK, here we go…..
