New Years Day Announce “Through The Years” Limited Edition Box Set

As I’ve pointed out just the other day, the PiercingMetal High Command is ensconced in the Third Annual Anime NYC convention that was going on at the Javits Center. Since I’m “away from my desk” so to speak, I’ll keep on sharing some things along the day that I’ve programmed in earlier such as this cool news about a new boxed set of New Years Day music. Dig in.

The Press Release:
With the first decade of New Years Day, rock music’s breakout band wrapping up, Ash and co. are excited toannounce the release of their first box set “Through The Years”, the limited edition set features all 7 of their albums available for the first time on custom colored vinyl, a blu ray of their beloved music videos and a four-page picture book of never-before-seen photos of Ash and New Years Day from their humble beginnings. The photos were handpicked and the captions were hand written by Ash Costello. This is limited to 500, fans can pre-order while supplies last HERE.

Ash Costello states, “I recorded New Years Day’s first album ‘My Dear’ in my friend’s bedroom closet in 2005, nearly 15 years ago. From then till now, every song recorded has been like a ripped page from that day in my personal life’s journal. It’s exciting to see it all together now, like a map of our bands career. I hope everyone enjoys being able to own the entire journey, and I hope it inspires the listeners to never give up on their dream.”

Their new single “Come For Me” is celebrating nine weeks on the Active Rock chart; this is their follow up to the top 15 smash “Shut Up”.

About New Years Day:
Formed in Orange County, Calif. by Ashley Costello, New Years Day shook the scene with their Century Media debut, Victim to Villain, in 2013 featuring their breakout single “Angel Eyes.” The five-piece later cemented their place in the heavy music landscape with their Epidemic EP and critically-acclaimed Malevolence full-length in 2015, clocking more than 20 million views on YouTube. The band has since become the most visually-captivating group in modern rock, playing for millions of fans around the world, sharing the stage with Ozzy Osbourne, Halestorm, Nine Inch Nails, Escape The Fate, Hellyeah and Five Finger Death Punch while also headlining the longest-running touring festival, Vans Warped Tour, in 2017. In 2018, they released their EP, Diary of a Creep, to pay tribute to the artists who shaped them thus far. The EP featured renditions of Garbage’s “Only Happy When It Rains,” New Order’s “Bizarre Love Triangle,” No Doubt’s “Don’t Speak” and their original track “Disgust Me”.

On April 26, 2019 New Years Day shocked critics and fans with their flawless album “Unbreakable”. The band enlisted powerhouse producers Mitchell Marlow (All That Remains, In This Moment) and Scott Stevens (Halestorm, Shinedown & American Authors) to create an album that combines heavy rock with pop sensibilities. Upon release, Unbreakable trended #1 on the iTunes rock chart, celebrated over 18 weeks on Billboard’s Current Hard Music Albums Chart. The singles “Shut Up” and “Come For Me” became the band’s first two active radio hits. The album surpassed 20 million global streams, establishing New Years Day as a force to be reckoned with. New Years Day celebrates a 10+ year career with over 66 million global streams, 40 million YouTube views & a top 15 Billboard Mainstream Rock Charting hit.

The band has been touring nonstop this year in support of Unbreakable. They kicked off the year touring with Falling In Reverse and have gone on to support Godsmack and perform a handful of North American headline shows. They are on tour in Europe and UK with Halestorm and In This Moment. In March they will not only tour but headline for the first time in Australia.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Historically speaking, though I have been following the activity of NYD for a few years now, it’s been quite some time since I’ve been able to see them in action for one reason or another. When you live in a metropolis such as my own, working out everything you wish to be a part of is just no doable. That being said, I am stoked to watch the bands continual climb of the recognition ladder and am glad to see that hard and honest work at ones craft bears fruit. This is surely going to be a “must have” item for any fan of New Years Day. As I close this one up I wonder what you think about it and will you be ordering or not. Chime in down below in the comments section and stay tuned for our review of the aforementioned single soon.

Loudwire & New Years Day Announce Exclusive NYC Fan Event

Readers of my words will often find me saying how cool I think my Media Metropolis is because we have lots of cool places and interesting goings on happening almost every day. One of the cool places is the relatively new Sony Square which is located just off of Madison Square Park and connected to the Sony Music label. In Sony Square, they often host band signings and meet and greets such as the Judas Priest one that I attended last year (seen HERE in case you missed that). Now, in the early days of February, a small group of fans of the band New Years Day will be treated to an exclusive acoustic performance and a meet and greet. Check out the cool poster below.

As no new album is ready to dish out to fans, they’ve teased us with a brand-new single in “Skeletons” which comes at us digitally and under the Red Music banner. I launched the track on Spotify to give you some thoughts about it. Here we go.

“Diary Of A Creep” by New Years Day

Artist: New Years Day
Title: “Diary Of A Creep”
Label: Century Media Records
Release Date: 2/23/2018
Genre: Alternative Hard Rock
Rating: 4/5

It’s been a minute since I’ve looked into the doings and brewing’s of the band New Years Day, so I was rather excited to dig into this new EP offering called “Diary Of A Creep”. The extended play comes care of the Century Media Records label and is one brand-new original song along with five covers. Generally speaking, the idea of cover albums has grown boring for me, but I’ve opened up on them a little more of late since they are not coming out as often as they used to. There was a time a few short years ago where almost every artist was dishing out a covers album and too much just makes a unique idea stale. The new track is called “Disgust Me” and I loved the overall groove of this one and had to say that there were points when Ash reminded me of Maria Brink of In This Moment. With that band no longer on CMR, perhaps NYD will rise in the ranks to be that sort of band for their roster.
