Today was the first Saturday in May and that is a great day for fans of the comic book medium because its “Free Comic Book Day” and that means that participating retailers give their loyal customers a batch of comic books for nothing. I headed to my neighborhood comic shop of Galaxy Comics to see what was going on and it was nice to see the patrons picking up additional titles along with the free ones. Take a look at the shop from the entrance.
I snagged photos of some of the titles that were on the shelves for the sake of this post. There was a lot of great stuff for the taking that’s for sure. Every shop that participates does this differently and some places have a better selection than others but I am happy to report that the folks at Galaxy are on top of their game and have a whole lot for their patrons to choose from. Take a look at a few.
Hello my friends and wonderful readers. I am back with my expansive explorations of the 2015 NY Comic Con which was held this past weekend over at the Javits Center. I’m up to Day Two of the fun after putting up four chapters from Day One. Yes you read that correctly – four posts for one single day and we do that to keep the images to about “50” with each post. This lets the tagging remain controllable and the means for Cosplayers to find themselves a little more easily. Since this is Part 1 from Day Two I have no idea how many I might run but here we go with our first image which is a visual of the Hammerstein Ballroom entrance. This year the Super Week events have multiplied and the space at Javits was just not enough for all the panels so many of them were taking place here at the massive venue. If you have read our concert reports from here you know already just how big it is and now it was time to overrun the place with geek stuff – not that there is anything wrong with that.
According to some of the people on this tremendous line, this was for an “Adventure Time” panel. I’ve not yet seen this show but often see numerous cosplayers dressed up as the characters and that makes me think its something I need to see on Netflix. Were you one of the people on this line for the panel? Let me know in the comments section about how it was.
Well hello there my friends I am glad to see that you made it. I should actually stress that I am happy to see that I actually made it because as has been noted across the previous days of NY Comic Con 2014 coverage, I have had a Heavy Metal concert to attend for PiercingMetal.com since the event began. Yep, so far I’ve seen Judas Priest with Steel Panther, Within Temptation with Amaranthe and last night was X Japan. That show was mind-blowing but they played a super long time. Don’t get me wrong I am not one to complain about a long show but this was too long after all the activity I have been involved in. Nothing that some copious amounts of coffee cannot fix. That being said welcome to our Day Four explorations of NY Comic Con. Let’s start with our Marvin The Martian Cosplayer. Take me to your coffee…..I mean leader.
You know him you love him its the great Neal Adams.
Hello there once again oh readers of the PiercingMetal website, we are back as promised with yet another exciting installment in our comprehensive coverage of the 2014 NY Comic Con. For those still coming to terms with their day this is the second chapter of the Day Two festivities and to say that my camera was being kept busy would be an understatement. Let’s get on down to it and finish with where I left off yesterday at the Mega Bloks pavilion. They had a wonderful assortment of statues around in their display and if you were lucky enough to get one they were handing out small figures to some of the people that passed by. I love the giveaways.
You can’t go wrong with anything Minions these days it seems. I love these little guys.
Ladies and gentlemen I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news but in the latest issue (#36) of the “Life With Archie” comic book published by Archie Comics, America’s true blue favorite perpetual teenager will meet with his demise. Commence shock now.
