Steven Wilson Announces US/Canada 2018 Tour Dates

Fans of Steven Wilson will be excited about his recently announced tour. With the shows going on sale in a couple of days, I wanted to make sure that you saw this.

The Press Release:
Steven Wilson released his critically acclaimed new album To the Bone this past August, with international music critics lauding the artist for continuing to expand his musical boundaries. Wilson will return to North America for a Spring 2018 tour in support of the album.

Wilson, described by Planet Rock as “one of the most prolific and unrivalled artists of our time,” will launch the trek on April 20 in Quebec. The tour runs through May 14 in Phoenix, Arizona and will stop in major cities along the way.

Wilson’s live performances are often unforgettable, like the time he performed at New York City’s The Beacon Theater without being able to use his voice. It was a show that Rolling Stone hailed as “stirring” and highlighted the “pop determination that runs through Wilson’s dense layers of shadow and rhythmic restlessness.”

All Steven Wilson North American tour dates are below.

The video for “Nowhere Now” has arrived, as well. Watch it here.

“Nowhere Now” is a gloriously soaring paean to the joys of everyday escapism. The video for the track was shot on location at and around Atacama Large Millimeter Array (Alma) in Chile – the world famous, high altitude radio telescope array. The video was directed and edited by Wilson’s long time visual collaborator Lasse Hoile.

Upon release, To the Bone debuted at a career-high Top 3 on the Independent Albums chart, and Top 10 on the Billboard Top Rock and Alternative Albums Charts. It also landed at #3 on the UK charts, which was another career high, and at #1 on the Finnish Albums Chart.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: I must admit that I was a latecomer to the music of Porcupine Tree but I think I’ve been pretty on point with Wilson’s solo career and I greatly enjoy it. I’ve tried to catch him at least once on each of his tour go rounds and as a matter of fact we were at the show in NYC where he didn’t have a voice and instead let Ninet Tayeb sing most of the show. It was an amazing experience for sure and very different. Though these dates are very far away from where we are in time, I’d like to try and catch one if not both of the shows in my city just in case he decides to mix it up in terms of the set. What do you readers think about the new music and the idea of this tour? Will you be in attendance? Chime in down below in the comments section.

To say that this was one hell of a week in NYC would be an understatement. The spirits of the Big Apple’s residents was still on a high with the news that only a few days ago, that US Armed Forces had located and killed the terrorist leader and hated asshole Osama Bin Laden. Resultant of this historic action, the President of the United States had come to town to make a speech about it all but for those in the Metal Republic, the best place to be tonight would be at The Best Buy Theater where the mighty Swedes of Amon Amarth were going to be performing. It was a little over a year ago when we last saw the band who was at the time continuing their trek around the world in support of the “Twilight Of The Thunder God” album. The show also featured Eluveitie and Holy Grail and was a great experience for all assembled at Irving Plaza for sure. Now after a reasonable breather to record some new material they were back on US Soil and ready to deliver a crushing set of mythically themed and heroic Death Metal.
