Presenting: The Comic-Con 2017 Official Trailer: “The Gifted”

Back in May we posted the first trailer for the upcoming Fox X-Men family of shows with “The Gifted” and during July’s SDCC, another trailer was unveiled for all to see. With so many shows catering to my fellow geeks and I, I’ve been placing them up some time afterwards to keep the attention flowing and since we still have plenty of time before the show actually airs. Here is the trailer from the Comic Con International: San Diego.

The Premise: Two ordinary parents take their family on the run from the government when they discover that their children have mutant abilities, and join an underground community of mutants who have to fight to survive.

The Cast/Characters:
Stephen Moyer as Reed Strucker
Amy Acker as Caitlin Strucker
Sean Teale as Marcos Diaz/Eclipse
Jamie Chung as Clarice Fong/Blink
Coby Bell as Jace Turner
Emma Dumont as Lorna Dane/Polaris
Blair Redford as John Proudstar/Thunderbird
Natalie Alyn Lind as Lauren Strucker
Percy Hynes White as Andy Strucker
Stan Lee makes a cameo appearance in the pilot

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Since I felt that I had said it all before with the first trailer I will repeat my words which ran like this “Nope. Very little interest in this one and its likely due to how “meh” that “Legion” ended up leaving me. The other part of this that I don’t care for is all of this disregard for proper continuity just to have a character who is an X-Men or Evil Mutant featured. Thunderbird has been dead for decades as fandom knows and Polaris was an X-Men at one point as well. Also with green hair (unless we get that going forward). I’m at the point where I am pretty tired of other studios having access to the licenses for these properties and just want Marvel to be in control of the whole enchilada. It’s better for the characters and its surely better for the fans”. I will admit that this longer trailer seems a bit more interesting but its all the continuity recreation that is driving me nuts. I will likely program the DVR to see a few episodes but don’t really feel that I will be investing much into the series. Dear Marvel Studios, please stop making deals with other parties to have your own characters back. Let their efforts fail and the rights will return faster than you think. What do you readers think about this new trailer? You down? You not down? Let me know down in those comments below.

What do you think? Will you be watching this one?

The Premise:
Person of Interest is an American science fiction crime drama television series created by Jonathan Nolan that premiered on September 22, 2011, on CBS. It is produced by Nolan, alongside J.J. Abrams, Bryan Burk, and Greg Plageman. It centers on John Reese (Jim Caviezel), a presumed-dead former CIA agent who is hired by a mysterious billionaire named Harold Finch (Michael Emerson), to prevent impending violent crimes predicted by the Machine, a mass-surveillance computer system that relays the identity of a single person predicted to be the crime victim or perpetrator. Their efforts to covertly infiltrate the lives of their targets and mete out their particular brand of justice attracts the attention of two NYPD officers: Jocelyn “Joss” Carter (Taraji P. Henson) and Lionel Fusco (Kevin Chapman), both of whom Reese uses to his advantage during his investigations. Reese and Finch are later aided by Samantha “Root” Groves (Amy Acker), a highly intelligent computer hacker and contract killer whom the Machine later designates as its “analog interface” with administrative access, and Sameen Shaw (Sarah Shahi), a former ISA assassin who dealt with the “relevant” (terrorism-related) targets unknowingly fed to her by the Machine.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: I realize this isn’t one of the usual “On Screen” posts since its not superhero related but I haven’t missed a single episode of “Person Of Interest” since it premiered and have to say that I will miss this show very much when it goes away at the end of this half-season. My main “C.S.I.” ended months ago leaving me only with “C.S.I. Cyber” which I don’t think is going to continue for much longer and while the procedural shows can wear you down with their heaviness, there are some that are much better than others. I’d be sure to program that stuff in if you enjoyed this like I did because the final episode airs in the first weeks of June meaning they will be doubling up the show either in a row or during the week and I know you want to see how this all plays out. Do you watch this show like I do? If so let me know your thoughts in the comments section.
