Taake’s North American Spring Tour Is Cancelled

It was only a few weeks ago that we helped share the news about the Springtime North American tour by Black Metal’s own Taake. The scoop was HERE in case you want to reference it, but now onto the sad news – due to venues being threatened by members representing the Antifa group, this entire tour is now cancelled. It began with the NYC show which I was interested in seeing but more on that later. Below is the original poster and the dates that are now in the proverbial crapper. Make sure that you get your money back if you have already secured them.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: According to some research, “The Antifa movement is a conglomeration of autonomous, self-styled anti-fascist groups in the United States. The principal feature of antifa groups is their opposition to fascism through the use of direct action.” If one can believe what is posted on Facebook, the group began threatening violence on the venues that were ready to host Taake’s performance because some years ago he sported a swastika on his chest during a gig. I’ve read that he’s tried to explain the situation a few times but I guess it hasn’t mattered much since they locked into him. I mentioned that the first cancellation was my own regional show in NYC and with our city under a constant scrutiny for terrorism, I guess that the powers that be felt it was better to be safe than sorry. I’m not a fan of Neo-Nazis either and I don’t know enough about why Taake opted to do that display so many years ago but if this group has been keeping watch on his movements, I don’t see him managing to get over here again any time soon if at all. If they are mad about the Anti-religious themes in the music – this is a BLACK METAL band and that is what the stuff is mostly about so they can’t change that. Be sure to get your money back like I said up above. I don’t want to see any of our readers losing out because of something like this. Money is too tight nowadays to waste it.
