Along with the Amazing Spider-Man, there is one hero who caught the fans attention quite a bit and I am speaking of none other than the Black Panther. Prince T’Challa will get his own film in 2018 and likely be a bigger part of the MCU going forward and its time to showcase the very first glimpse via the teaser trailer. Here we go.
Premise: After the events of Captain America: Civil War, King T’Challa returns home to Wakanda but soon finds his sovereignty challenged by factions within his own country. When two enemies conspire to bring down the kingdom, T’Challa must team up, as the Black Panther, with C.I.A. agent Everett K. Ross and members of the Dora Milaje—Wakanda’s special forces—to prevent a world war.
Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa/Black Panther
Michael B. Jordan as Erik Killmonger
Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia
Danai Gurira as Okoye
Martin Freeman as Everett K. Ross
Daniel Kaluuya as W’Kabi
Angela Bassett as Ramonda
Forest Whitaker as Zuri
Andy Serkis as Ulysses Klaue
Additionally, Florence Kasumba and John Kani reprise their roles as Ayo and T’Chaka respectively from Captain America: Civil War. Winston Duke is cast as M’Baku/Man-Ape, the leader of a rival Wakandan tribe, while Sterling K. Brown is cast as N’Jobu, a figure from T’Challa’s past, and Letitia Wright is cast as Shuri, T’Challa’s sister and the princess of Wakanda who designs new technology for the country. Wright described her as “an innovative spirit and an innovative mind” who “wants to take Wakanda to a new place… [and] has a great fashion sense”. Wright also felt Shuri was “vibrant” and “refreshing”, and was a good role model for young black girls. Phylicia Rashad and Atandwa Kani have been cast in undisclosed roles.
PiercingMetal Thoughts: As a rule, I try to keep opinions to the minimum with the teaser trailers so I will leave this as it looks promising. The exotic lands of Wakanda are something that comic book readers have known about for years so seeing them brought to life on the screen will be interesting. I liked all the Black Panther action in Captain America Civil War and this should be amplified to the next level in his own film. What did you think? You can leave me a quick first thought and we will talk more on the full trailer post that will come when we get said trailer. Bring it on and I shall see you again soon.
