Wow. It would seem that I am either dreaming or that Hell has frozen over twice because now the music publication reading world can find the amazing Rush on the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine in their June issue for this music year 2015. When I saw it on the stands I had to admit that I thought I was seeing things but quickly realized that I was not when I remembered how KISS was also featured early last year. Here’s a refresher if you’ve forgotten that CLICK ME.
PiercingMetal Thoughts: I don’t really have much to say on the matter here outside of sharing the cover with you all. I don’t actually think I’ll be picking up the issue because even though I do love the band, I am not as compelled with their presence in things as much as I am for the likes of KISS related anything. I think it’s great for Rolling Stone to finally feature such a band on the cover and in a feature article after they have been around for 40 years. Kudos to them on their decision to celebrate the bands career at a time when it seems like they will be slowing down their touring and recording activity. Speaking personally, I never needed Rolling Stone to tell me what I should be paying mind to and that is why so many bands that I enjoy will never ever see a cover here. Judas Priest has never once adorned the cover while fictional space villain Darth Vader has been on three of them. For most of my music listening years, Rock has never been something that Rolling Stone raised a glass to and one can likely agree with that when they hear how Madonna had been on no less than 20 covers, which is four more than the legendary Jimi Hendrix got. So yeah if you love Rush go grab an issue of this and if you don’t want to put money into this magazines pocket just peruse a copy in the bookstore, library or doctors office or find it online. Most Rock fans don’t need this publication to tell them that Rush is awesome as they often realize this after the first listen. That’s all I have to say on this one.
