Thanks to the fine folks at Topless Robot and some other media allies for the cause, I learned of this upcoming Horror/Comedy film entitled “Deathgasm” and well, its a film that has a truly Heavy Metal spirit to it even if that spirit is from the Netherworld and seeks to devour us whole. Let’s let the trailer give you a solid insight about it and then we can chat a little more. They say “The Road To Hell is Paved In Metal” so let’s see just how much.

The Plot:
After his mother is institutionalized, misfit Brodie is sent to live with his fundamentalist Christian Uncle Albert and Aunt Mary, whose son David torments him. A heavy metal fan, Brodie forms a band called DEATHGASM with his friends Zakk, Dion, and Giles. When the bandmates break into a local house, they discover that one of their idols, reclusive musician Rikki Daggers, lives there. Daggers gives the band magical sheet music, which a cult later murders him to find. Skeptical of the sheet music’s power, the band plays it, only to summon a demon. With the help of his crush, Medina, and his bandmates, Brodie must find a way to defeat the demon. DEATHGASM is a 2015 New Zealand horror comedy film written and directed by Jason Lei Howden. It stars Milo Cawthorne and James Blake as a pair of misfit heavy metal fans who unintentionally summon a demon. It premiered on 14 March 2015 at South by Southwest. The film is inspired by writer-director Howden’s teen years, in which he was a social outcast and fan of heavy metal music. (thanks Wiki)

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Doesn’t that look like a horrific bit of fun? To me it seems to play on all of the generalized stereotypes we Metalheads can fall into and the horror bits strike me as the kind of thing we can expect from the upcoming Starz series “Ash Vs. Evil Dead”. There is just enough comedic response along with the gore to make this similar to those classic “Evil Dead” films and I think its high time that we got a new player in the field, I mean graveyard. According to what I have read about the film, there is no release date yet but it did premier a few months ago at the SXSW Festival in Texas. Maybe some of you attended that event and actually caught the film, so if that is you please let us know what you thought about it but kindly no spoilers to the larger plot and surprises. We get enough ruined television time thanks to Facebook and the idiots that ruin “Walking Dead”, “Game Of Thrones” and more these days. If you are like me and only now hearing about the film and seeing this trailer what do you think about it. Will you see this film wherever it should be released, rent it via an on demand medium or purchase on DVD/Blu-ray when it hits the brick and mortar shops? As always your opinion matters to me so bring it on in the area below.
