Alas the Metal world has lost yest another brother in its music as just this past Saturday, former Motorhead guitarist Michael Burston who the world know most commonly as “Wurzel” has passed away. He was 61 years old and reports are pointing that heart disease was the cause of his death. His nickname “Wurzel” came from his armed services days and in terms of his Motorhead tenure he was on the audition with guitarist Phil Campbell back in 1984 and joined the band with the other guitarist at the same time. The classic photo below was found on the Gun Shy Assassin blog as we didn’t have any of our own to use for this memorial posting.
Wurzel’s Motorhead Discography Spanned a little over ten years and he was loved by fans without question. One cannot argue with the fact that he was a solid and creative player who brought a lot of good to the band for many years. It’s interesting to note that after he left the lineup, the band opted to remain a three-piece unit and has never sought an additional guitarist. The compilations, studio and live efforts that feature his talents are listed below. PiercingMetal reviewed a few of them and our views about the whole crop of Motorhead releases can be viewed via THIS LINK.
