The Press Release:
Even heavier and blacker than usual, we have to announce that Tuska 2021 will be cancelled due to coronavirus. The pain-sized festival is not erected at the turn of the hand, but the time of preparation is measured in months and even years. We want to offer the best possible festival experience for Tuska visitors from all lawsuits: from technical implementation to music and from food supply to side program plus everything else. Now comes the time that we could organize a festival that matches our expectations and the audience. So called. the amount of fox is high. We would have liked to have wagged our hair this summer in Suvilahti with you.
The sun is shining into this catacomb: Tuska’s 2022 planning has begun and the artists have a very strong urge to play, so we believe that the program will turn out very interesting. Next time the Tuska festival will be celebrated in Suvilahti, Helsinki on 1.- 3.7.2022, and three days tickets are on sale. Tickets are sold by 2022, 2022, and 2021: https://www.tuska.fi/liput Tickets purchased for the 2020 and 2021 Tuska Festival are eligible for 2022 as such. The best thing a Tuska visitor can do to support the event is to use the purchased festival ticket next year. If you wish, you can also return the ticket to the place of purchase by 31.8.2021 Ticket stores will be contacted by email to customers who bought tickets as soon as possible. This is how it went, but your fist is up – we hope you’ll be there! ✊
With even heavier and blacker hearts than usual, we have to announce that Tuska 2021 will be cancelled due to Covid-19. Tuska is a festival that cannot be built overnight. The production timespan is measured in months, even years. For Tuska’s visitors, we want to offer the best possible festival experience from all perspectives: from technical to musical, food to additional programme etc. Within the current time frame, we cannot deliver a festival that would meet our and the audience’s expectations. We are vexed. We really would’ve wanted to whip the hair through the air with you in the summer.
However, there’s light at the end of the catacomb. The planning of 2022 is already underway and the artists are craving to tour so we believe the line-up will turn out to be very interesting. The next Tuska Festival will be held in Suvilahti, Helsinki on July 1–3, 2022. 3-day tickets are available at Tiketti, Ticketmaster, Lippu.fi and Festicket via THIS LINK.
Tickets purchased for Tuska 2020 and 2021 are valid as such for Tuska 2022. The best way to support Tuska is to keep your festival ticket and use it in summer 2022. Tickets can also be returned to the point of sale by August 31st, 2021. Ticket agencies will contact all ticket holders via e-mail as soon as possible. It is what it is, but we’ll move forward with a raised fist – hope you are with us! ✊ #tuskafestival

PiercingMetal Thoughts: This is some for sure bummer news but nothing that I think really surprises anyone at this point. Yes there is a vaccine and the nations of the world are moving forward with distributing it as best as possible but the restrictions and conditions on events like the Tuska Festival just make it impossible to hammer out even despite the best efforts. At the time of this writing I have not seen a live band on the stage in more than a year and to say that its taken a piece of my core away would be an understatement. Sadly, this is just how the world is working at this point and I am hoping against hope that by the Fall of this year that maybe some things will be able to happen. To have two full years of no concerts, conventions and special events is really going to cause irrepreable harm to the industry but that being said, the public health and safety are the most important thing. I’ve never been to Tuska or Finland and these are things that I wish I could rectify so maybe when the world is closer to as “normal” as it can be. Closing up what do you readers think about the news? Have you ever attended the Tuska Festival? It’s sounded like a blast a number of times. Chime in below with your thoughts as I’d love to hear from you. Until next time.
