Opening Today: “Thor – The Dark World” (11/8/2013)

’Cross the Rainbow Bridge of Asgard, Where the booming heavens roar, You’ll behold in breathless wonder, The God of Thunder, Mighty Thor! Yes my friends, the time has come for the second chapter in the second phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the sequel to 2011’s “Thor” with “Thor: The Dark World”. I think that sounds a whole lot better than a simple “Thor 2” don’t you?

I’ve copied the premise from Wikipedia for your easiest reference. We can discuss what you think afterward for a few lines. Here goes…

One year after the events of The Avengers, Thor battles to save the Nine Realms from a mysterious enemy older than the universe itself. A primeval race led by Malekith, who is out for revenge, intends to plunge the universe into darkness. Confronted by an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot overcome, Thor must reunite with Jane Foster and set out on a dangerous journey that will force him to make the ultimate sacrifice.

I’ll say that I like the idea of more action being on Asgard for this one because we’ve already had Thor on Earth twice with the first film and “The Avengers”. Let’s see how the Odinson prevails against mighty challenges this time around. That said I am leaving this little broadcast simple and to the point. My goal is to see this particular film on the opening day if my schedule permits me to do so. Fans are welcome to chime in with comments about their own anticipations about the release but please I do ask that no spoilers be posted.
