Opening: “Logan” (3/3/2017)

I’ve broadcasted a few times about the latest chapter in the live-action saga of the X-Men’s own Wolverine and that film opens up in theaters everywhere today. I’ll admit that I wasn’t crazy about the first trailer, but the second made me a little more intrigued and you can review it as well on THIS LINK. Let’s review some premise and casting after you’ve absorbed the theatrical release poster below.

The Premise:
Set in 2024, Logan and Professor Charles Xavier must cope with the loss of the X-Men at the hands of a corporation led by Nathaniel Essex. With Logan’s healing abilities slowly fading and Xavier’s Alzheimer’s hampering his memory, Logan must defeat Essex with the help of a young girl named Laura Kinney, a female clone of Wolverine.

The Cast:
Hugh Jackman as James Howlett/Logan/Wolverine
Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier/Professor X
Richard E. Grant as Dr. Zander Rice
Boyd Holbrook as Donald Pierce
Stephen Merchant as Caliban
Dafne Keen as Laura Kinney/X-23

PiercingMetal Thoughts: I’ve already noted that the second trailer made me a lot more interested in the film and I guess that is based on seeing much more X-23 action. She is the current Wolverine in the comics universe in case you didn’t know. Remember that this film is going to be rated “R” like this past year’s “Deadpool” and I think that is a perfect fit for such a finale. The “R” rating also means NO LITTLE KIDS should see the film no matter how much they like Wolverine. Don’t be THOSE parents my fiends. I’m definitely planning to see the film in the early weeks of its theatrical run and offer up some non-spoiler thoughts on it right here for our readers but don’t think I am getting out to see it today. There is just too much going on but once the coffee does its thing I’ll know for sure. What about you readers? Will you see this film soon or wait until home video release? Let me know in the comments section below and be sure to hit your local comics shop if one is nearby, there is still a chance that you can snag some of the Wolverine focused “True Believers” comics that Marvel released last month. They are all lined out on THIS LINK.
