Back in April I said something like this “Fans of the Star Wars franchise were certainly excited last year when these films returned to our full on attention with “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”. It was the 7th film in the historic mythology and took place some thirty years after we last saw our heroes. I’m sure you’ve all seen that one by now in some fashion because the film generated a whopping $2 billion dollars in the box office. I’m sure that home video sales propelled that number higher but enough on that. Now its time to explore other parts of the Star Wars timeline with this tale that takes place after “Revenge Of The Sith” and before “A New Hope”. The teaser for “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” was pretty cool and sent some goosebumps around the galaxy of geekdom but now we have something more substantial as the Official Trailer was released last night and is presented below.

The Premise:
Following the foundation of the Galactic Empire, a wayward band of Rebel fighters come together to carry out a desperate mission: to steal the plans for the Death Star before it can be used to enforce the Emperor’s rule. Edwards stated that the style of the film will be similar to that of a war film, stating, “It’s the reality of war. Good guys are bad. Bad guys are good. It’s complicated, layered; a very rich scenario in which to set a movie.”

Some Cast:
Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso
Diego Luna as Captain Cassian Andor, a Rebel Alliance Officer
Riz Ahmed as Bodhi Rook
Ben Mendelsohn as Director Krennic, an Imperial Military Director
James Earl Jones as the voice of Darth Vader

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Hey I am sold. This looks really good and the characters have caught me from the longer clip which is something I don’t often find happening. I was also excited to hear “the breathing” of Darth Vader and see his helmet from behind at the close of the trailer. Let’s hope the character has a more active role since we are at the beginning stages of the full on Galactic Empire and all their nasty. What did you readers think of this trailer? You down? 1. I’m down to see this. I wasn’t thrilled with the last movie (too predictable) but I still keep an open mind for this new one.

  2. Heck yeah I’m down. I loved Force Awakens, heck there were moments in 1-3 I didn’t HATE. This looks like they’ve put good effort into it.
I’m not TOTALLY sold on the lead yet, but she can win me over I’m sure. I’m intrigued by the large, angry C3POish robot sidekick.
