As you know, we’ve been discussing the film “SHAZAM!” for a few months now and today is the day that the Warner Brothers Pictures film gets released in theaters everywhere. Initially I was on the fence about this one, but the latest trailer (seen HERE) has found me being more open to the film. Let’s review the poster, premise and casting once more.
The Synopsis: Two years after Steppenwolf’s invasion, Billy Batson, a troubled 14-year-old orphan living in Philadelphia, is set up to move into a new foster home – his seventh in a row – with the Vazquez family and their other five foster kids in Fawcett City. One day, Billy gets on a subway car and finds himself transported to a different realm where an ancient wizard gives him the power to transform into a godlike adult superhero by uttering the word “Shazam!” Billy and his new foster brother Freddy Freeman must learn what Billy’s new powers are and how to use them in order to stop the villain Dr. Thaddeus Sivana from nefarious acts, with powers of his own. (thanks Wiki).

PiercingMetal Thoughts: As many know, the DC Extended Universe is a hot mess at this point in time with no films focused on Batman or Superman for the foreseeable future. “Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice” was supposed to rally the call and instead left so many for want while “Justice League” was so rushed and forced in story that it performed abysmally in the box office. On the upside, “Wonder Woman” was a solid exhilerating film and “Aquaman” was a lot of fun too and this leads me to think that “SHAZAM!” will be fine if it follows along some of the things that made those other two succeed. I am planning on seeing this early in the theatrical run but not on today’s opening based on time and other things on the agenda. Now that PiercingMetal.com has reached it’s 14th year of online time, the plans need to be put in motion on how much to get done as I aim the outlet to year 15, but I’ve said this already. Back to the film, will you readers be seeing this one early in the run or are you giving it a hard pass? Chime in down below in the comments section.
