By now you’ve probably already read about or seen one of Elton John’s final touring shows as he is in the middle of his “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” tour (which was discussed HERE if you somehow missed it. Then the news came about a biopic about Elton’s life and origins to the musician we know today came about and it seemed like this would be well received based on all the accolades that “Bohemian Rhapsody” received. If you missed the Official Trailer just click HERE to be on point with that. Now, the moment has arrived and the film “Rocketman” opens today in theaters everywhere. It’s rated “R” actually so only a select audience can enjoy it in the theaters. Let’s review the poster, premise and casting.
Premise: The film tells the story of Elton John’s life, from his years as a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music, through his influential and enduring musical partnership with Bernie Taupin.
Taron Egerton as Elton John
Jamie Bell as Bernie Taupin
Richard Madden as John Reid
Bryce Dallas Howard as Sheila Eileen
PiercingMetal Thoughts: As you read this I am heading to the final day of BookExpo which completes at the Javits Center today and then its onto Five Points Festival tomorrow and back there for The Book Con on Sunday. Suffice it to say, this is going to keep me from enjoying this film early on in its theatrical run. I loved the Queen biopic and still haven’t got around to seeing “The Dirt” and generally take to films like this. Truth be told I need to see the also opening “Godzilla: King Of The Monsters” which I’m pretty stoked for but can’t get to until next week sometime. Anyway, before I veer off course in this scheduled post, I wonder if you will be seeing this film early on in the theatrical run. Chime in down below in the comments section. See you next time.
