Metallica Announces Worldwired North American Tour with Avenged Sevenfold and Volbeat

I know that a lot of you readers are still in an uproar about Metallica performing with Lady GaGa on the Grammy Awards last night and not even being introduced by the host but did you really expect anything less than that from the Grammy’s given Metallica’s storied history with them? I was just glad that I knew how to read lips when they began playing since James didn’t have a working microphone 🙂 Let’s hope that at least a few new fans were made for the band by the appearance because sonically speaking they did sound great even though it was a weird combination. With that now out of the way we can get to the more important stuff like the recently announced North American tour by the Mighty Metallica who are bringing along both Avenged Sevenfold and Volbeat. The full press copy and dates are below. Dig in.

ABOUT METALLICA: Metallica formed in 1981 by drummer Lars Ulrich and guitarist and vocalist James Hetfield and has become one of the most influential and commercially successful rock bands in history, having sold 110 million albums worldwide while playing to millions of fans on literally all seven continents. They have scored several multi-platinum albums, including 1991’s Metallica (commonly referred to as The Black Album), with sales of nearly 17 million copies in the United States alone, making it the best-selling album in the history of Soundscan. Metallica has also garnered numerous awards and accolades, including nine Grammy Awards, two American Music Awards, and multiple MTV Video Music Awards, and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in 2009. In December 2013, Metallica made history when they performed a rare concert in Antarctica, becoming the first act to ever play all seven continents all within a year, and earning themselves a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records.

ABOUT AVENGED SEVENFOLD: Avenged Sevenfold achieved worldwide success with a string of best-selling albums – including their 2005 platinum breakthrough City Of Evil, 2007’s Avenged Sevenfold, which topped the Billboard Alternative, Hard, and Rock Charts, and two consecutive No 1’s on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums chart, Nightmare (2010) and Hail To The King (2013)- achieving Diamond, Platinum and Gold awards for album sales in nearly a dozen countries. They’ve also scored a series of Top 10 singles at multiple formats, including “Bat Country,” “Almost Easy,” “Scream,” “Nightmare,” “Welcome To The Family,” “So Far Away,” and “Hail To The King,” and “Shepherd of Fire.” The group, which hails from Huntington Beach, CA., have become known for their spectacular live shows, routinely selling out arenas worldwide and headlining some of the biggest and most prestigious music festivals.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: I’m pretty excited because I just love the new “Hardwired…To Self-Destruct” album and think that Metallica has once again embraced the sound and energy that made them Metallica in the first place. I’m pretty excited because I just love the new “Hardwired…To Self-Destruct” album and think that Metallica has once again embraced the sound and energy that made them Metallica in the first place. They’ve truly ascended to the level of the most important Metal band in the world and for me personally it’s been a wild thing to watch them rise from nothing to this monster level. I should add that I am also stoked about the inclusion of Avenged Sevenfold to the tour because I have never seen them before no matter how much I wanted to do that. I love their albums and videos and am sure they will add to the overall experience that Metallica will be bringing to the table. Let’s not forget about Volbeat who have also risen quite a bit since first being included on that Metallica tour for the “Death Magnetic” album. This is quite the worthy package so don’t miss out if you know what’s good for you. I guess the only complaint I have about this news is that there isn’t a NYC show at either MSG or the Barclays Center. That would have been sweet. I’ll probably opt for the Metlife Stadium show since that is a massive space as opposed to trekking out to Long Island. Readers can let me know what they think of this tour down in the comments section below. Bring it on.
