If you’re looking for something to do before the Memorial Day weekend happens this year, then you might want to gather up some friends and some camping gear and head to the Schaghticoke Fairgrounds for the first annual “Rock’n Derby” Festival. The news about this one has been circulating for a few weeks but I held back since it was better to wait until the New Year so that everyone would have the holidays out of the way and could properly start mapping out their musical year. That being said, check out the press about this awesome three-day event taking place in the way up yonder parts of New York State some 164 miles away from us city dwellers. There’s a lot of reading in this one but that’s because there is a lot going on. Check it out.

Campers will have daily access to the festival site and demolition derby. Camper space will be on a first come, first serve basis, and RV parking and connections will be available, as well.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Alright so which of you readers has the RV with a reliable WiFi connection and a spare place to crash after the rocking has been done all day? I’m sure more than one of you has a lead on this kind of thing at this point and I sure hope so because I am not sleeping on the ground and I need a place to charge my phone after all the tweeting that will have been done during the day. Truth be told I have never before camped ever but this particular weekend might be just the place to give that a whirl and pretend that it’s our own US version of the famous Wacken Festival. I loved so much of last year’s Food Truck and Rock Carnival and think that this event is bringing an even higher level of powerful bands to enjoy. Did you check out that roster above? I mean come on now, Megadeth, Ghost, Lamb Of God, Sixx A.M. etc. etc. – I’m going to need three cameras along with me for this kind of trek and I think one of the biggest highlights of it all will be the chance for Metalheads from far and wide to get to interact with each other. That’s all I have on this one and its very late in my night so onto the next touring post or perhaps even some sleep for a change. What do you readers think of this event and will you go? Let me know your thougghts in the comments section below because that is why we have them open.
