Hey there readers and Happy New Year once again. We are getting to the comic book posts a day later than usual since we had the whole “2017 Wish” for you to digest first. So here I am with the Marvel Comics stuff first and one of the interesting things is the whole “Monsters Unleashed” storyline. I’ve been posting the news about these over the last couple of months in an effort to have you better prepared for the invasion and you can re-examine those articles by clicking on THIS LINK. As we’ve done over the past years, the press copy and images come from the Marvel side of the fence and the I’ll close up with some personal choices. Here we go.

The Mighty Captain Marvel #1: The Greatest. That’s what they call her. Danvers may not like the crown she’s wearing, but boy does it look good on her. Just watch out for the thorns it comes with—forces trying to take down everything Carol has built. Carol Danvers makes her triumphant return as the Mighty Captain Marvel! DEADPOOL THE DUCK #1 & 2 (OF 5): What do you get when you take one cynical anthropomorphic duck (named Howard) and cross it with the smelliest (and most annoying) mercenary in the Marvel Universe? DEADPOOL THE DUCK! When Deadpool is sent on a mission from S.H.I.E.L.D. to capture a high-profile E.T. that is rampaging across the high plains, the snatch-and-grab turns out to be much more complicated than the Merc with a Mouth anticipated. One unfortunate wrong-place-at-the-wrong-time accident later leaves Deadpool and Howard fighting for control of the cutest mercenary the Marvel Universe has ever seen! Brought to you with words by Stuart Moore (CLOAK & DAGGER, THANOS: DEATH SENTENCE Novel) and art by Jacopo Camagni (DEADPOOL’S SECRET SECRET WARS).

PiercingMetal Thoughts: As I’ve been speaking about these in the last few comic book news posts, I am super curious about the “Monsters Unleashed” stuff. I am thinking that it should be fun. Seeing what the tie-in comics are all about is probably something I am going to do as well. Not sure about the “Deadpool The Duck” one though or the new Wasp character. I think I will browse them on the stands since my shop doesn’t yell at me for flipping through the titles like The Simpsons Comic Book Guy would U.S. Avengers could be interesting and I must admit I feel bad for the diehard collector of variants since there are more than 50 different covers for that one. Well, what do you comic book collecting site readers think? Are any of these getting a place in your weekly comic shop bag? Let me know in the comments section below.
