PiercingMetal Thoughts: Right off the top of my head I am for sure getting copies of these 50th Anniversary of S.H.I.E.L.D. one-shots. I’m a fan of the television show so it will be cool to see some characters presented there being brought to life on the printed page while having ones we already know from their history doing their secret agenty stuff. Anything Deadpool seems hot right now thanks to the awesome work that was done on his title and the recently released trailer for the upcoming film. Pitting the Merc with a Mouth against one of the galaxies most vile villains is sure to be entertaining. Maybe DC Comics can respond in kind and give us “Ambush Bug vs. Darkseid”. That would be a hoot. The rest in terms of regular titles I will likely look into when they are hitting a trade paperback format and speaking of this format, how awesome is it to get a full on color collection of the classic “Man-Thing”. Now don’t get me wrong because I love the “Essentials” editions but they are in black and white and while wonderful things for the younger readers, kind of grow tiresome on me since I want the vibrant colors of the page jumping out at me. I would love to see “Manny” get a proper place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well and while he did have a SciFi network sort of feature a few years ago, that film was garbage and the time is right to delve into the supernatural side of Marvel Comics on the big screen. We are getting Doctor Strange so perhaps this can open the door for such a process (at least on Netflix or something). The S.H.I.E.L.D. collection by Lee and Kirby is bonafide classic stuff so that is a no-brainer purchase for me as is the “Monster Of Frankenstein”. Loved that title since it was involved in the Marvel Universe as well during its run. What do you readers think of these offerings? Let me know in the comments section below and until next time “Make Mine Marvel”.
