Marvel Announces “Sentry” Series For June

I am always game for a new comic book series launch and I still have the first appearance of “The Sentry” somewhere in one of the long boxes in my massive comic collection. The character intrigued me and with that being said its nice to see him being fleshed out in a brand-new series. Learn more down below.

The Press Release:
This June, The Sentry is returning to the Marvel Universe, along with writer Jeff Lemire (Moon Knight) and Kim Jacinto (Avengers: No Surrender) in an all-new story!

“Having made his dramatic and unexpected return in Donny Cates’ DOCTOR STRANGE story, it was a no-brainer for us to move ahead on an actual SENTRY series! And it was my great fortune that Jeff Lemire was eager to lend his talents to the project, as it will live in the sort of off-kilter headspace that his MOON KNIGHT and Black Hammer projects exist in,” said SVP and Executive Editor Tom Brevoort. “And Kim Jacinto, fresh off of AVENGERS: NO SURRENDER is the perfect artist to help visualize the worlds of this shining champion who’s also got a dark underbelly.”

“The Sentry is a fascinating character,” Lemire told “I absolutely loved the original Sentry series by Paul Jenkins and Jae Lee when it first came out, so I jumped at the chance to write the character. The Sentry has a lot of emotional depth and a lot for me to dig into in terms of the psychology of the character.”

PiercingMetal Thoughts: According to the solicits for June, it looks to be a very heavy month for first-issues and that means with this one I might need to peruse it on the racks first before putting into the pull list bag of my weekly visit to the comic book store. This is the kind of character that I think would also do good in the Marvel Cinematic Universe because his power level is rather extreme and that opens a lot of storytelling opportunities. What do you readers think about this news? Do you also have that Marvel Knights series that I mentioned in my opening notes? Chime in down below in the comments section and I will see you next time around. Cheers.
