Machine Head Cancels Upcoming US Tour For 2014

While I hate to be the bearer of bad news, I fear that I must do so again as I share with you the knowledge that Machine Head has canceled their upcoming 2014 US Tour. The run would have found them joined by Children of Bodom, Epica and Battlecross which would have been an “interesting” blend of Metal flavors for sure. The reason they are citing is based on their new album taking longer to complete. The bands statement follows the planned tour poster.

Tour - Machinehead - 2014

Band Statement:

It is with great disappointment that Machine Head must announce the postponement of our North American tour this fall. Our new album “Bloodstone & Diamonds” has taken longer to complete than expected and we had to make the difficult choice to either delay the album, let it go out as incomplete, or cancel the tour in order to properly finish and promote the album in the caliber it needs to be done. We decided postponing the tour was the best decision for the record. We feel this record is a milestone, we feel we have something truly special here, but getting there has been a challenge. Our vocalist / guitarist Robb Flynn just returned from a press tour where he was playing rough mixes and incomplete versions of songs for the press just to try and keep everything on time for our November release date.

Refunds will be available for tickets at point of purchase. Look out for rescheduled American tour dates for the beginning of the year. All scheduled European tour dates will remain as scheduled. Machine Head release their 8th album “Bloodstone & Diamonds” (and their first for Nuclear Blast Entertainment) on Nov 7th – EU, and Nov 10th in the U.S. and U.K.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: I originally mentioned that I was both intrigued and confused at the opening of the narrative that broadcasted the existence of this tour and the reasons for those states of mind was based on the bands being blended for this package. I still maintain that view of the fans being too wide a blend so perhaps when Machine Head reschedules they will partner up with groups that are more in tune with their own sound. I would also love to see another Epica headlining run because they sell out shows here in the states on their own and the same applies to Children Of Bodom. What do you readers think about these cancellations?

Despite the cancellation, fans can keep up with the happenings in these respective bands worlds via their Official Websites and social networking accounts. I’ve provided their main homepages but you are tasked with the rest.
