King Diamond Unveils “Abigail” Fall Tour 2015

The Mayhem Fest has ended and after some seriously tumultuous commentaries across its run, the one constant was about how great King Diamond was as the second to last performing act. I saw the regional show last weekend and can attest to just how amazing King was sounding. It’s as if he went back in time and a younger self had taken his place or some sinister forces have been spoken to in dark places and given him renewed vigor and stage power in exchange for a few of your paltry souls. With the festival over, it was great to learn that King Diamond would be getting back on the touring circuit in a few short months and delivering one of his most important albums as a solo artst. The one and only “Abigail”. I’ve copied the press release and tour dates for you below along with the poster and then we can discuss it a little bit.

Upon its release in November 2014, KING DIAMOND’s Dreams Of Horror reached #28 on the Billboard Hard Music charts. This is the only “best of” album covering the band’s entire career. KING DIAMOND and Andy La Rocque meticulously mastered and enhanced these 23 songs into the ultimate editions, chosen by the band from both the Roadrunner and Metal Blade catalogs.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: I’m one of the fortunate 2200 plus Metal fans that caught King Diamond live in NYC last year when he returned to touring and it was an incredible experience for all who witnessed his grand return. King sounded great and put on one hell of a show that folks were talking about for weeks. After that tour, many were surprised that he would join onto the Mayhem Festival with Slayer and as anyone who witnessed that recently ended summer affair, the set from the King was impossible to beat – yes, even by Slayer. The announcement about his playing the seminal “Abigail” album will surely kick up his presentation by several notches. I’m envisioning an even more dramatic stage than the one he has used for the past year and much like his other shows, the audience can count on a story being told behind the songs being played during the show. I like that Exodus is on this bill as the support act as well since I have not seen them in a couple of years. I think the last time was during the Metal Alliance tour from 2013 and now they have Zetro back. It’s great to find him choosing to return to the Best Buy Theater once more but since that last event sold out so quickly, those with interest better get right on top of it so they don’t miss out this time. I know that I want to be there in Times Square raising the horns as he weaves webs of horror in our Metal minds once more. What do you readers think about this new tour? Does it awaken dark and sinister spirits inside you compelling you to attend or are you more interested in something else? Let me know in the comments section which I have left open for you.
