I’ve already set aside today as a “get all these tour announcement posts done” day and I am just amazed as how many cool things are coming up for you fans of the Metal and Hard Rock here on our coast. As a tried and true resident of the Big Metal Apple I take great pride in our region and all the shows that we get to enjoy. That pride was brimming to overflow when I learned about the NYC Residency that was being planned by Killswitch Engage. Check out a healthy amount of the press copy and the poster below, then I’ll return to offer up some thoughts.
The Press Release:
KILLSWITCH ENGAGE TO STAGE NYC TAKEOVER – BAND TO PERFORM NEW YORK CITY RESIDENCY LEADING UP TO MARCH 11th RELEASE OF INCARNATE – FIVE INTIMATE SHOWS TO TAKE PLACE IN MANHATTAN AND BROOKLYN
New York City better get ready, because a Massachusetts metal takeover is on the way. Killswitch Engage have booked a series of intimate NYC shows leading up to the March 11th release of their new album Incarnate. Spanning both Manhattan and Brooklyn, these five shows will all take place in venues the band has never played before. To make these shows even more special, for each night of their NYC residency, the band will be debuting a different new song from Incarnate in the set. Fans in attendance will be the first to hear the song live. The KsE NYC takeover, is sure to become the stuff of legends and something that is talked about for years to come.
The KsE x NYC dates:
3/6 Gramercy Theatre (Manhattan)
3/7 Bowery Ballroom (Manhattan)
3/9 Saint Vitus (Brooklyn)
3/10 Marlin Room at Webster Hall (Manhattan)
3/11 Rough Trade NYC (Brooklyn)
The band will follow this can’t-be-missed residency with a headline run in support of Incarnate. Dates for the tour are here.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: I’m not sure how much cooler I can make this sound since the idea of catching a band like Killswitch Engage in a small club is just about as awesome as a Metal Special Event can be. Knowing full well the size of all of these clubs involved I say that you better start vying for tickets now and calling in every favor that you can with those “in the mix” so you don’t miss out and are left hanging around in the streets outside hoping to catch a few songs before being run off. Off all of the shows happening I think that the most chaos is going to happen inside the Saint Vitus Bar since it’s the smallest of the lot of them. If you are far away and looking for a quick idea of their size, I can say that I’ve seen KSE in the now torn down Roseland Ballroom and that you could fit around fifty of the club in that space. I’m going to try to be at the first show at Gramercy Theatre and perhaps the closing one at Rough Trade where we saw Ghost do a special show some months ago. This is truly going to be a series of shows that the Metalheads will be talking about for some time and I’m hoping that they capture some of this on video for future generations to enjoy. What do you readers think of this special event run of dates? Let me know in the comments section below.
