Time to rally up your armaments for the seemingly endless battle against the dead who walk and seek us out like we were McDonald’s cheeseburgers. Yep, hot off the ending of this years NY Comic Con, comes the third season of “The Walking Dead” which begins tonight. Folks that didn’t attend the Con might be amused to find out that the access passes to the event featured various characters from the show.

If you have not yet completed watching the previous two seasons, I suggest that you close up this posting since I have a few spoilers about the happenings that we found taking place. Okay now that those folks are gone I can say “wow” what a crazy way to end the last season with the all out battle at the farm with that herd of walkers and let’s not forget to bow our heads in a little sadness at the loss of Sophia and well, even Shane in some sense despite his going bat shit crazy and wanting to off Rick. There were so many moments of slow in the second season, especially in the first half before the big reveal about Sophia and the barn full of walkers, but the second half did us right. There were more exciting moments than there were not, and the view of the world looks bleaker every day. I’m glad that they showed us a quick glimpse of Michonne at the end of the season and the background of the prison which I know is the scene of a lot of action in the comic book. Clearly season three is going to be one that gets talked about. Here is the rundown of the main cast for this go round.

Main Cast:
Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes
Sarah Wayne Callies as Lori Grimes
Laurie Holden as Andrea
Norman Reedus as Daryl Dixon
Steven Yeun as Glenn Rhee
Lauren Cohan as Maggie Greene
Chandler Riggs as Carl Grimes
Danai Gurira as Michonne
Michael Rooker as Merle Dixon
David Morrissey as The Governor
Melissa McBride as Carol Peletier
Scott Wilson as Hershel Greene

Recurring Cast: Emily Kinney, Jose Pablo Cantillo, Dallas Roberts, Travis Love, Lew Temple, Vincent Ward, Daniel Thomas May, Chad Coleman, Sonequa Martin-Green, Tyler Chase, Melissa Ponzio, Alexa Nikolas, IronE Singleton, Donzaleigh Abernathy, Emma Bell, Jon Bernthal, Lennie James, Jeryl Prescott Sales, Andrew Rothenberg

So what are your thoughts about what has transpired so far? Are you still with the slowly depleting cast that we met back a couple of years ago or have you been worn out by the absolute hopelessness of the world that has become overrun by the dead? Let me know because I would love to hear your views. I am still interested even if I find the occasional episode boring or slow. I think overall they are delivering a solid show. The first couple of seasons are out in complete series boxed sets, and of course you can now also get the collected comic book format compendiums if you have not yet read any of the comic book series that gave us this show in the first place. Mind you there are considerable differences between the two.
