The Press Release:
Progressive metal titans INTRONAUT will start 2016 with a North American headlining tour, which will see the group supporting their newest full length record, The Direction Of Last Things. Joining the band on the upcoming trek are The Ocean and North. Speaking about this headlining run, the members of Intronaut comment,

“Intronaut would like to thank all you amazing people for your continued support of our band over the past decade, and especially with the release of our latest album. You guys are the best fans ever, and we’re lucky to have you! We are very excited to announce our first headlining run of 2016, with support coming from two bands we love.”

The band also provides some interesting details about these headlining shows, adding,

“To give you an idea of our show, we are planning on playing all the songs from “The Direction Of Last Things,” as well as some songs from all our past records. We are also working hard on a beefed-up visual production that should take you from zero to I’m-freaking-out-man in record time.”

The Ocean Press Copy Cites: Germany’s premier post-metal act, The Ocean, is returning to North America this spring for a special tour with progressive metal titans Intronaut! Presented by Metal Injection, the trek also features sludge metal trio North as openers. See below for all dates – with additional headlining USA dates with The Ocean coming soon! The Ocean will be touring in support of their recent split EP Transcendental with Japanese post-rock legend Mono, as well as in support of their critically acclaimed last album, Pelagial (2013), which was hailed as the group’s “most ambitious record to date” (HeavyBlogIsHeavy.com). Over the course of the crushingly massive record, “tender piano interludes get stomped on by Mastodon-shaped footprints, lush strings work next to bulldozing double-kick work, and, at the end, the submarine crashes at Melvins tempos” (Spin.com). PiercingMetal Thoughts: As I’m someone who doesn’t have a whole lot of background in Intronaut or any of the other bands on the roster, there is not much that I can add about this one. I do notice a listing for a great NYC venue and am going to do my best to be there and have a night of Metal Education. It’s the kind of show that will be a learning experience of sound from beginning to end. What about you readers? Are you “in the know” and will be hitting one or a few of these appearances? Let me know down in the comments section below.
