Attention all ye Metalheads, the mighty Iced Earth has announced “The Worldwide Plagues Tour” that will be hitting our side of the Atlantic in 2014. According to the press release they will be bringing along Sabaton as direct support and Revamp as the lead in opener. This is going to be a good one for sure. More after the poster.
The last time that I caught Iced Earth they were doing one of those co-headlining tours with the great Symphony X and of course since that band is from New Jersey, they got to close the NYC appearance. The show was great and was the first time that I got to see Mr. Stu Block laying waste to the Metal legions as their new vocalist. I’ve long been a fan of the sonic range that Block has from his years with Into Eternity and needless to say this show was a killer. As far as Iced Earth goes, I am not ashamed to admit that I was a very latecomer to the band but have done my best to support their efforts as a music scribe and photographer since becoming this back in 2003. It’s been fun to catch up to what I had missed before and help further their cause.
Now let’s talk about the openers for this tour and wow what openers they are. The great Sabaton from Sweden have really impressed the Metal fans of the USA and continually seem to sell out their own headlining appearances. They were a new name to me a couple of years ago and when they arrived as support for another act, I was blown away that the fans were there for them as opposed to the main act. Clearly they were doing something right and their shows are powerful and exciting so this is a solid match. Then there is the amazing Floor Jansen who I first heard in After Forever. I had been a fan of that band for years but they only seemed to get here once for a tour with Overkill and then it was over. Now Floor is a full time member of Nightwish but she kept her latest project alive as well. Her register is beyond easy description and I am so very excited to be able to catch her doing solo material while I wait for her return with Nightwish.
So as I lined out in the beginning of this little tour broadcast post, this is going to be a good one and one that you will not want to miss. I’ve got the tour dates for you and have highlighted our own regional show at the Best Buy Theater. Maybe I will even be able to offer our readers a contest for this one but right now its too early to tell.

To say that there is a lot of great Metal to enjoy from Iced Earth and these fine openers would be an understatement. With that said I have embedded a lot of the most recent works from all of the performers for you to indulge in. I’m sure some of you have your holiday money already so you might as well make some good use of it.
