Over the years we’ve found many of our favorite Rock bands doing albums and live concert experiences with classical orchestras and while some of them had been extraordinary to listen to there have been others that seemed like they were simply following the trend and are to be avoided. As a writer about the heavier side of music my two first favorites fall to the KISS and Metallica offerings and these have led me to the recently released single by the legendary Beach Boys. I don’t think I need to explain the inclusion of such a group on our pages because I’ve aimed at expanding our focus to other notable names when there was a chance to do so for a while now. Now while they were before so many of our times (yes mine as well people), I did still grow to appreciate many more worlds of melody thanks to their most amazing hits so let’s discuss just what the first single “Fun, Fun, Fun” by the Beach Boys with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is shall we?
Right off the bat I should explain that while this is a “new” track it is not a new recording by the Beach Boys. Instead this is the classic tune from 1964 and features the original lineup of the group with the Wilson Brothers (Brian, Carl and Dennis) along with Mike Love and Al Jardine. The drummer in me wants to note that the great Hal Blaine (of The Wrecking Crew) was on drums for this classic song at the time. This new single brings those classic vocal lines to the world of today along with brand-new compositions by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra who worked their magic in Abbey Road Studios and the result is simply wonderful. The stylish offering is just a taste of the album that I believe will hit street in June and I am pretty confident that both new and older fans of the group and the orchestra will enjoy this one. I can’t wait to hear more and if we get another single from it, I will happily throw together some thoughts about it. If you were any sort of supporter of the group I’d safely recommend that you give this a chance and order via the provided Amazon.com link below.
