It’s pretty awesome to hear about a new series such as this coming to pass, especially a few weeks after the 75th Anniversary of Batman. According to The Hollywood Reporter “Fox is moving forward with its Batman prequel series Gotham. Based on characters from the DC Comics universe, including a young Bruce Wayne, Penguin, Riddler and Catwoman, the drama explores the origin stories of Commissioner James Gordon and the villains that made Gotham famous”.
The trailer for the series is below and it looks super compelling. I know that I will be watching and programming my DVR in advance this time so I don’t fall as behind as I did with the second season of “Arrow”. Check out the clip and let’s talk more after it.
We have a healthy core cast to the show and I think it will be interesting to learn the beginnings of some of Batman’s most famous rogues. Of course we will not actually have Batman in the series as this features a very young Bruce Wayne but I think it will still be something that comic book fans are going to be talking about on numerous forums and social networks. The idea of Alfred being more than just a gentlemen’s gentleman fascinates me as does learning how Gordon climbs the ranks of the Gotham City Police Force as a champion of the good and decent among the wretched.
Ben McKenzie as James Gordon
Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth
Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot
Zabryna Guevara as Sarah Essen
Erin Richards as Barbara Kean
Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock
Jada Pinkett Smith as Fish Mooney
David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne
Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle
Drew Powell as Butch Gilzean
Cory Michael Smith as Edward Nygma
Sara Paxton has also been cast in an unspecified role.
What are your thoughts about this program? Do you think you will watch based on the trailer and the overall premise? I’ve long held Batman as one of my very favorite heroes and its not only because of how cool he was but for how deep and involved the backstory and his rogues were so this could be a winner. Let me know what you think in the comments which I have left open for you to indulge us.
