Dutch Metal titans EPICA are celebrating the 10th anniversary of their milestone album Design Your Universe. To mark this special occasion, EPICA will be re-releasing this fan-favorite album as a Gold Edition on October 4th through Nuclear Blast. This edition will contain the album remixed and remastered by Joost van den Broek with updated artwork and a 2nd disc containing newly-recorded acoustic versions of DYU songs.

Simone Simons comments about the re-release: “Design Your Universe is an album that is very dear to me not only because of the music, but also because of the message behind it. I am looking forward to the anniversary release and all the upcoming shows. The bonus CD is a worthy addition to DYU and I can’t wait for you all to hear the songs!”

Design Your Universe will be re-released as a 2-CD version and a digital version. Next to that the acoustic songs will be released as a separate Picture Disc. Pre-order will start on August, 9th.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: This is very exciting news to me for a few reasons and the first has to be because I’ve been listening to Epica for a VERY long time. As a matter of fact, I was a “new to the game” scribe who had begun reaching out to record labels both here and abroad and one sent me “The Phantom Agony” when it was still an advance thing. I loved it of course and felt this kind of material was up my alley since I already greatly enjoyed Nightwish but I feel I am flying off the rails here. What I am getting at is that back then I never thought we’d be seeing Epica in concert here in the states because this kind of stuff just wasn’t really supported by mainstream media. Of course they have been here about a dozen times since that first listen and I cannot wait to help them celebrate their special anniversary of “Design Your Universe”. I’m happy to find the show happening in the refurbished Webster Hall where I have not been yet since its reopening but with this event happening in early 2020 I will probably have gotten there before this one happens. So closing up I wonder what you readers think about this tour and will you be helping rally the party. Chime in down below and I will see you next time.
