The Press Release:
Eddie Van Halen store has released a commemorative shoe, the 1978 High Top, honoring the occasion of Eddie’s groundbreaking debut to the world stage with the release of the first Van Halen album, some 40 years ago. Adding to the growing collection of footwear offered by the EVH™ brand, the 1978 High Tops are a black and white classic high-top sneaker.
The outer side features a live photo of Eddie Van Halen playing guitar on the first world tour, and the inner side of the shoe has 1978 prominently displayed in a circular badge. The Eddie Van Halen logo appears on both the tongue of the shoe and on the back sole, and the back panel features his signature white with black striped pattern.
The 1978 High Tops and additional apparel/merchandise can be purchased at the website below.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Though I would have loved to hear about a proper expanded remaster of the bands debut album, I am rather cool with the pair of kicks being announced since I love a good decorated sneaker. These look awesome and provided they are comfortable, I am really interested in a pair. I walk so much so there has to be a good support and comfort to the show. Generally, I would post something fashion related over on “The Chronicles” of Piercing Ken but since its aimed at Eddie’s brand I will run it here. Oh and speaking of the bands debut album, its actual anniversary was on 2/10 and its now 41 years old. Last year I celebrated the 40th Anniversary on THIS POST if you have interest in checking it out. It remains one of my favorite albums of all time but before I close up, what do you think about these new EVH High Tops? Chime in down below in the comments. See you next time.
