I guess it was almost two weeks ago when I promised you a quick overview for the “Don’t Change” single that was done by the talented ladies in Kingston & Greystarr and here we go. If my doing this is brand-new news to you then you didn’t likely see the video which I really enjoyed and recommend that you check out by clicking HERE. After you’re done we can touch upon the single which like the video is an independently released project.

So as most of you know (or should at least), the song “Don’t Change” was done by the band INXS and was the second single from their third album “Shabooh Shoobah” and historically speaking it was the first exposure that I had to the band so many, many years ago. That being said the track has remained on the special side and when I heard the way that K&G had done it I was suitably impressed. While musically on point and kept to its original magic without any modifications or stylistic changes, the kudos need to be offered up to Kingston herself who handles the lead on the vocals. Greystarr provides more of the harmonies and backing up during the choruses. For me one of the personal highlights is that Kingston keeps the soaring line of “Don’t Change” towards the end of this still very eighties sounding track. Having been originally released in 1982, I was glad it kept all of its New Wave magic.

Somewhere in the Great Beyond where we all hope to go eventually, I think Mr. Hutchence is smiling about this version. Do check it out.
