Congratulations To Halestorm On The Grammy Win

So last night was The Grammy Awards and it was the 55th Annual one to boot and when it came down to the Top Dog in the “Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance” it was Halestorm that brought home the award. The song that got the top honors for the band was “Love Bites (So Do I)” and its a pretty solid track so kudos to them for this achievement. Halestorm is one of those newer bands that I have enjoyed since first hearing about them and yet never managing to see for some unknown reason. Oh well. So why this post? Well, for starters it was to raise a pair of the Metal horns to Lizzy, Arejay, Josh and Joe on the win and the others was to address who they competed against in the category.

So we already are aware at how the Grammy committee lumps the Hard Rock and Heavy Metal genre together into a performance criteria and here is who Halestorm had to beat out. The first was Anthrax for their “I’m Alive” track. Next up Iron Maiden with “Blood Brothers” from their live release “En Vivo”. The mighty Lamb Of God with a smoldering tune from their “Resolution” album in “Ghost Walking” and the last two Marilyn Manson’s “No Reflection” from “Born Villain” and Megadeth’s tune from “Th1rt3en” in “Whose Life (Is It Anyway)?” Lot’s of truly Metal tracks among the number and I know I am not the first to make mention that Halestorm are the least Metal of the bunch but honestly I am not going to debate about it since this industry doesn’t truly care about our music and the movement that is inspires. Our sounds are heavy and brutal and apparently back in the underground no matter how many they sell since no one gives much credit except those of us who love it most. Even though they are clearly a more important Metal band to the mix of today, I would never expect LoG to win something like this because it scares this kind of committee. Moving on from that is there ANY band that is a better live performer in this list than Iron Maiden? No. So their not winning is kind of bunk as well. To me I think if Foo Fighters were up in this category again this year that they would have taken it home and at least Halestorm is more Metal than they are. Bear in mind I enjoy me a little Foo once in awhile. Closing up here is the video for that song, enjoy…
