Claudio Simonetti’s Goblin Brings “Dawn Of The Dead” To Life In 2014

It’s almost amusing to me that not two full days after the season finale of “The Walking Dead” how the news that Claudio Simonetti’s Goblin will be touring a performance of his music which was written for “Dawn Of The Dead” film. Hopefully you all know that this film is the sequel to the legendary “Night Of The Living Dead” feature. Read more about it after the poster.

Before I get into more stuff about the event, here is some information about the band as lovingly cribbed from their Official Wikipedia entry “Goblin (also Back to the Goblin, New Goblin/Goblin Rebirth, the Goblin Keys and Simonetti’s Goblin) is an Italian progressive rock band known for their soundtrack work. They frequently collaborate with Dario Argento, most notably creating soundtracks for Profondo Rosso in 1975 and Suspiria in 1977. CD re-releases of their soundtracks have performed well, especially in Germany and Japan. Goblin returned with a series of live concerts in Europe in 2009 and in North America in 2013.”

Last year our good friend and stalwart adventurer in things music media, Skeleton Pete, had seen a version of Goblin which he said is NOT the one on this particular tour. This is the bands original keyboardist and a founding composer but there will be other musicians touring with him as he presents this epic score to the masses for this aural experience. He was blown away by the presentation and while I admit to being completely in the dark with the exception of a couple of compositions, I do think this will be something interesting to see at least once. For this limited run of dates Goblin will be joined by both Hate Eternal and Stolen Babies and while I enjoy both of these bands I admit I am slightly confused as to how they fit with the presentation that Goblin is going to bring to life. I guess I will have to see for myself when it hits Irving Plaza.
