The new film by Toho Studios called “Shin Godzilla” or “Godzilla Resugence” here in the USA has just released the US Trailer for us to enjoy. The film will open in a limited run in October and be shown to some lucky attendees at the upcoming NY Comic Con. Check it out below and I’ll return with more information about the film afterwards.
About The Film: Shin Godzilla (シン・ゴジラ Shin Gojira?, also known as Godzilla Resurgence) is a 2016 Japanese science fiction kaiju film featuring Godzilla, produced and distributed by Toho. It is the 31st film in the Godzilla franchise, the 29th Godzilla film produced by Toho, and Toho’s third reboot of the franchise. The film is co-directed by Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi, with a screenplay by Anno and visual effects by Higuchi and stars Hiroki Hasegawa, Yutaka Takenouchi, and Satomi Ishihara and reimagines Godzilla’s origins where he emerges in modern Japan for the first time. In December 2014, Toho announced plans for a new domestic Godzilla film. Anno and Higuchi were announced as the film’s directors in March 2015 and principal photography began on September and ended in October with the special effects work following in November that year. Shin Godzilla was released in Japan on July 29, 2016 in IMAX, 4DX, and MX4D to positive reviews and was a box office success, becoming the highest grossing live-action Japanese film for 2016. PiercingMetal Thoughts: What do you think of that dramatic poster? I love it. So powerful in basic colors and its impacting statement. Perfect. Oh, I should say that I had to leave off the premise part of this one because the film has already opened up in Japan and that means the full story was in the Wiki blurbs that you usually find in these postings. I’m hoping to see the film during the limited screening after NY Comic Con and am going to try and get some of my friends who love Godzilla to join me. As far as a trailer for this kind of film goes, it looks exciting and it will be interesting to see The Big G facing off against only humanity once again. With this being a reboot of his mythology I wonder if they are looking to follow with more modernized updates of other classics and their monsters. You can let me know what you think of the trailer down the comments section below.
