Did you ever read DC Comics Vertigo series “Lucifer”? I remember reading a few issues since it was Neil Gaiman but I never kept up with it as I mostly preferred the costume fare when it came to my own comic book reading. Anyway, yesterday Fox released the trailer for the upcoming show that is based on this series and I have to admit it looks rather interesting. Check it out and I’ll be back.

The Premise:
Lucifer is an upcoming American television series that is set to air on Fox, and it is a loose adaptation of the comic book character created by Neil Gaiman for the comic book series The Sandman and its spin-off comic book series Lucifer written by Mike Carey, both published by DC Comics’ Vertigo imprint. The series was officially picked up on May 9, 2015 for the 2015–16 season and it is scheduled to premiere in 2016. The series will focus on Lucifer, “who is bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell and resigns his throne and abandons his kingdom for the beauty of Los Angeles, where he gets his kicks helping the LAPD punish criminals”. Cast and Characters:
Tom Ellis as Lucifer Morningstar
Lesley-Ann Brandt as Maze
Lauren German as Chloe Dancer
Kevin Alejandro as Dan
Rachael Harris as Linda Martin: Lucifer’s therapist
D. B. Woodside as Amenadiel
Scarlett Estevez as Trixie
AnnaLynne McCord as Delilah

PiercingMetal Thoughts: So I’ve already admitted to not really following the original comic book series outside of a few issues here and there and that will not matter if the upcoming series is a loose adaptation of its happenings anyway. From the trailer this seems to be a rather quirky yet very supernaturally centered show and bears some similarities to the not long ago cancelled “Constantine” which NBC dropped before even giving it a full season run. With that being the case on a neighboring network, my curiosity is will this show last when it begins airing. Fox is notorious for giving shows a one season go until they drop the ball and sometimes stuff doesn’t even make its whole season (“Terra Nova”, “Almost Human”, “Brimstone”, “Wonderfalls”). Since I really enjoyed what “Constantine” was all about and feel this has some potential I will be setting the DVR to record it whenever it finally gets the green light to air. I don’t currently see it with any particular date which struck me as a little strange. What do you readers think of the trailer? Does it make you curious enough to watch it? Let me know in the comments.
