You loved her as The Black Widow in “Iron Man 2”, “The Avengers” and of course in “Captain America: the Winter Soldier” but now Scarlett Johansson dishes out the pain in her own action film entitled “Lucy” which opens up in theaters everywhere today. Check out the poster below.
Premise: In a world run by the mob, street gangs, drug addicts, and corrupt cops, Lucy is a woman living in Taipei, Taiwan who is forced to work as a drug mule for the mob. A drug implanted in her body inadvertently leaks into her system, which allows her to use more than the normal 10% of her brain’s capacity, thus changing her into a superhuman. As a result, she can absorb information instantaneously, is able to move objects with her mind, and can choose not to feel pain or other discomforts, in addition to other abilities. 2014 marks the 75th Anniversary of the first appearance of Batman in “Detective Comics” #27 and with that momentous occasion DC Entertainment has declared that today is officially to be known as “Batman Day”. Yep, you’ll find yourself heading to the batpoles in order to enjoy this day properly.
I had initially planned on putting up a broadcast per interesting news item but the stuff that came flying at my mailbox from the Marvel Comics side this week was just too fast for that and as many readers have seen, there had been several tour announcements to dish out. That said I lumped all three of these interesting and somewhat major happenings in the Marvel Universe into one post. I hope you will forgive me for taking the easy way out this time around 🙂 Let’s get down to business.
1. Thor Gets In Touch With His Feminine Side & Becomes A Woman: On the Tuesday episode of “The View” Marvel made the announcement that Thor would become a female in a move to attract more people to the franchise. Writer Jason Aaron was quoted as saying “This is not She-Thor. This is not Lady Thor. This is not Thorita. This is THOR. This is the THOR of the Marvel Universe. But it’s unlike any Thor we’ve ever seen before.”
Ladies and gentlemen I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news but in the latest issue (#36) of the “Life With Archie” comic book published by Archie Comics, America’s true blue favorite perpetual teenager will meet with his demise. Commence shock now.
When I posted the stuff about “Maleficent” not too long ago, I pretty much assumed that there would be more content like this coming to my readers attention. With most of the music stuff moved off of the blog and back onto the All-New PiercingMetal.com which has been in place for just over a month now; figured it would be a good idea to amp up the level of film and comics content here to keep you interested. Disney films are not really a focus here but this first trailer for “Big Hero 6” is a superhero film and reminded me a lot of the Anime stuff we know some of our readers are very interested in. Let’s check out the clip.
