’Cross the Rainbow Bridge of Asgard, Where the booming heavens roar, You’ll behold in breathless wonder, The God of Thunder, Mighty Thor! Yes my friends, the time has come for the second chapter in the second phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the sequel to 2011’s “Thor” with “Thor: The Dark World”. I think that sounds a whole lot better than a simple “Thor 2” don’t you?
I’ve copied the premise from Wikipedia for your easiest reference. We can discuss what you think afterward for a few lines. Here goes…
One year after the events of The Avengers, Thor battles to save the Nine Realms from a mysterious enemy older than the universe itself. A primeval race led by Malekith, who is out for revenge, intends to plunge the universe into darkness. Confronted by an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot overcome, Thor must reunite with Jane Foster and set out on a dangerous journey that will force him to make the ultimate sacrifice. Fans of the band Lamb Of God know full well the kind of experience that one of their shows is. It’s a throttling affair for sure and when the band began making the six o’clock news based on a murder accusation, it kept everyone on the edge of their seats as the details were sorted out. This and much more come to light in the upcoming documentary which finally has a full trailer for us to enjoy. Check it out.
About the Film:As The Palaces Burn is a feature-length documentary that originally sought to follow the band and their fans throughout the world, to demonstrate how music ties us together when we can’t find any other common bond. However, during the filming process in 2012, the story abruptly took a dramatic turn, bringing the band into a Kafkaesque nightmare, when lead singer Randy Blythe was arrested on charges of manslaughter, blamed for the death of one of their young fans in the Czech Republic. What followed was a heart-wrenching courtroom drama that left fans, friends, and curious onlookers around the world on the edge of their seats.
PiercingMetal Thoughts: Truly this was some compelling news and as someone who goes to a LOT of Metal shows, I sure don’t want anyone to get hurt much less to die during an event that they love so very much and that made this story some gripping news. I look forward to seeing this film and wonder what you folks think about it. We have some months to go so perhaps a second trailer will come as well.
Fans of the X-Men franchise of films will be chomping at the bit with this first trailer from the 2014 to be released “X-Men: Days Of Future Past”. The film prior to this was “X-Men: First Class” and took place in the sixties and this new one jumps ahead to both the seventies and the far flung future. I find this an interesting way to do the films so let’s check it out down below. I’ve also added the premise and a lot of the ensemble casting.
The Premise: X-Men: Days of Future Past is a 2014 superhero film directed and co-produced by Bryan Singer and written by Simon Kinberg from a story by Kinberg, Jane Goldman and Matthew Vaughn. The film is based on the fictional X-Men characters that appear in Marvel Comics and is the seventh installment of the X-Men film series, the sequel to both X-Men: The Last Stand (2006) and X-Men: First Class (2011). The story, inspired by the 1981 Uncanny X-Men storyline “Days of Future Past” by Chris Claremont and John Byrne, focuses on two time periods, with Wolverine traveling back in time to 1973 to change history and prevent an event that results in doom for both humans and mutants. We love the classic monsters as much as any of the others out there and since the clips for this particular television show looked interesting I wanted to share with the readers that NBC’s “Dracula” begins airing tonight and premiere’s its first episode.
According to the show’s Wikipedia entry “The series introduces Dracula as he arrives in London, posing as an American entrepreneur who maintains that he wants to bring modern science to Victorian society. In reality, he hopes to wreak revenge on the people who ruined his life centuries earlier. There’s only one circumstance that can potentially thwart his plan: Dracula falls hopelessly in love with a woman who seems to be a reincarnation of his dead wife.” – I’ll admit that sounds kind of interesting to me. Dracula who is the embodiment of evil fighting against an even greater threat. It could work out. Will this be a show that you will sink your teeth into? I am sorry for going for that joke but it was a perfect fit.

Fans of the AMC Original Program and Kevin Smith will be happy to learn that season three of the unscripted reality program “Comic Book Men” airs its premiere this evening. Does this excite you? Are you a fan or is this the first time that you will be taking a look at it.
The premise of the show is the day-to-day happenings that take place in Jay and Silent Bob’s Secret Stash which is Kevin Smith’s comic book shop that is located in Red Bank, New Jersey. Having seen the first season and a few episodes of the second I can tell you that there are times when you feel like you are watching a nerdier version of “Pawn Stars” where the customer brings in items that they wish to sell off to the store along with the occasional expert who knows more about a particular piece. For instance, in the first season they called upon someone to help with a Star Wars item and another for a Godzilla piece. So far we have seen the staff go on some foraging adventures for trinkets at yard sales, flea markets and auctions. There is also a podcast that Smith hosts and the show appears to switch back and forth from the staff talking there and the activity at the comic store. Have you watched yet? What are your thoughts on the show? I will give you mind after presenting the cast of players who have remained the same. The show remains at 30 minutes per episode for the third season.
Kevin Smith – Store Owner and Podcast Host
Walt Flanagan – Store Manager
Mike Zapcic – One of the clerks at the shop
Bryan Johnson – Friend of the staff.
Ming Chen – One of the clerks at the shop
My Thoughts On It: Though I did not yet complete my viewing of the second season I can say that so far the show remains pretty consistent in its presentation. Sometimes there is a mission of some kind for fun sake to break up the daily shop happenings, and those for the most part have not done it for me. I do like the customer interactions and enjoyed seeing the creator of the Presidential Monsters figures paying them a visit to show his latest offerings. I’ve seen these figures at Toy Fair and think they are awesome. I don’t “love it” but then again I don’t hate it either. Its cool couch potato fair and if you are a fan of the comics medium perhaps you will enjoy it. One aspect that I do enjoy is when they tell you a little about the comic or item being brought in. This copies “Pawn Stars” for sure, but its great to see the information.
