Marvel Comics’ Latest “True Believers” Issues Say “May The 4th Be With You”

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away – a great adventure took place…This adventure also gave birth to one of the biggest and most successful financial licenses known to mankind and I am speaking of none other than the mighty juggernaut that is “Star Wars” which came to us from the creative mind of George Lucas. Since that bygone year of 1977, the original film has spawned numerous sequels and prequels, offered the world hundreds and hundreds of action figures and then there are the comic books. Marvel Comics took over the license a few years ago and has been delivering some great stuff since and with this “May The 4th Be With You” day are adding a whole batch of these titles to their “True Believers” line which we have spoken highly about in the past on the website. These titles are the exact same issue that was previously on the stands and sell for the incredible savings of $1. They are the perfect way to get a new reader into comic books and make a perfect present. Check out the covers for these issues and which ones will be coming out this month. Make sure to let your retailer know to save you these for your monthly pull list because at this price they most certainly will sell out fast. Here we go.

Marvel Comics First Issues Coming In May 2016

Hey there readers I’m back again with some more comic book first issues and its Marvel Comics turn with this one. Truth be told, and I am sure that I have said this on many occasions already, I am a diehard of the Marvel side of the superhero fence in terms of overall preference and damned proud to say it. Based on what is heading our way this month I might have to coin the phrase “May Is For Marvel” as not only do we get a nice crop of first issues in addition to the currently running titles but there is also a “Star Wars” focused bunch of “True Believers” titles as well. I’ll have a post going live tomorrow about those but for now check out the provided press copy and covers of this month’s Marvel first go rounds.

Valiant Comics First Issues Coming In May 2016

Welcome my friends to the comic book stuff for our Media Month of May and it is super exciting for me this time around because not only are a lot of cool comics coming out but there are plenty of films to keep us entertained along with our Metal adventures. I’m starting off with the Valiant Entertainment stuff this time around so check out the covers and the provided premise and then I will return at the close. Here we go.

"4001 AD" #1
“4001 AD” #1

4001 A.D. #1: In the tradition of BOOK OF DEATH, ARMOR HUNTERS, and HARBINGER WARS, Valiant’s most ambitious crossover event yet starts here! At the dawn of the 41st century, the future of Earth will be decided in the stars. This May…the rebellion begins in 4001 A.D.!

One hundred years from today, Father – the benevolent artificial intelligence that governs the island nation of Japan – will gain sentience. To defend its borders, Father will take drastic action by launching Japan into space…where its people will thrive in isolation, away from the overpopulated and resource-deprived planet below. Over the centuries, as New Japan orbits our increasingly unstable world, it will become a model society – one built on peace, prosperity… and Father’s control.

A thousand years from today, Father will create the first Rai, founding a lineage of technologically enhanced heroes engineered to defend New Japan and sworn to protect it from all enemies. For hundreds of years into the future, the Rai will single-handedly enforce New Japan’s justice well…and serve Father without question.

Now, at the dawn of 4001 A.D., the latest Rai is about to inherit the dark truth behind the origin of his kind…and discover the sinister secret at the heart of Father’s existence. For New Japan to live, Earth must die…and as Rai challenges his former master for the first time in more than a millennium, the lone guardian of New Japan will be cast out of his own Father’s kingdom…

Exiled from the only realm he’s ever known, Rai now walks the ravaged world of 4001 A.D. in search of forgotten heroes like himself… on a mission to collect the last surviving legends of a broken planet…and to forge a rebellion with the power to bring the most advanced civilization in history crashing back down to Earth.

Here’s Some Info On 2016’s “Free Comic Book Day”

Logo - FCBD - 2016

We love “Free Comic Book Day” here at the PiercingMetal Command HQ and as you read this little announcement, its only three weeks away (or 21 days depending on how you like to mark out the countdown to such a thing). Now in case there are some new readers to the site who don’t even know what this is, let me explain that its a day that numerous comic book retail shops participate in an event where patrons get a bunch of comic books for free. It’s that simple and there are dozens of awesome free provisions to be had. Based on the demand many of the retails shops have a limit of five or so books so everyone gets to have something. It’s also super smart to go as early as possible so you get the ones you want. The reason I am posting this advance bit of news is because the Official Website link below has the entire rundown of what is coming out and trust me there are some goodies to be had. The ones I am most excited about are the “Civil War II”, “Suicide Squad”, “Rom Spaceknight”, “Phantom”, “The Tick” and “Captain America” to name a few. Take a look at the list and let me know what ones you are compelled to get your hands on.

Oh yeah and this is something I also always mention on FCBD. Be sure to bring some extra cash along with you to take advantage of the sales that many of the retailers have going on during the event. You can get some great discounts on action figures, collected editions and even back issues or other assorted doodads with your favorite heroes and villains on them. This is also a great way to thank the retailer for even participating in the event. See you on May 7th, now back to the music journalism stuff.

Valiant Comics First Issues Coming April 2016

Let’s keep the comic book solicitations coming with this quick dose of the first issue offerings from Valiant Entertainment. There aren’t a lot of new launches this month in addition to the currently running titles so without further adieu here they are.

Comic - Divinity II 1 - 2016

DIVINITY II #1: The much-anticipated follow-up to the five-time sold-out series that The Onion/A.V. Club calls the “Best New Superhero of 2015” is here! The acclaimed creative team returns for a perfect new jumping-on point into the expansive sci-fi saga that shook the world! At the height of the Cold War, the Soviet Union – determined to win the Space Race at any cost – green lit a dangerously advanced mission. They sent three cosmonauts farther into space than anyone has gone before or since. Handpicked orphans with no connections to Earth, trained as devout Communists, and restricted from having families, they became lost in the stars and encountered something unknown… Something that changed them. Long thought lost and erased from the history books, Abram Adams was the first to return, crash-landing in the Australian Outback. The few that have been able to reach him believe him to be a deity. They say he can bend matter, space, and even time to his will. But, even with seemingly limitless power at his fingertips, he is concerned only with the secret love he hid away from his superiors and the unborn child he never had a chance to meet.

Now, Miska, the female co-pilot of the group, has also returned to Earth…but, unlike Abram she had no secret family. Unlike Abram, she still believes in the Communist ideal. And, unlike Abram, she intends to play a very real role in the return of Soviet glory. Earth is about to meet a new god. And she’s a Communist. How long can it be before the nations of Earth bend before DIVINITY?
