Iron Maiden Announce “Maiden England World Tour”

The mighty Iron Maiden recently revealed touring plans for a run they are calling “Maiden England” and this extensive tour will also find the bands Coheed and Cambria and the legendary Alice Cooper providing suppport (depending on where your dates are). I’ve copied the full press release and dates down below the poster and will return at the close with some editorial notes. Here we go.

The Press Release:
Following the massively successful Final Frontier World Tour 2010-11, IRON MAIDEN are back on the road this summer with a series of Arena, Amphitheatre and Festival shows in the U.S.A. and Canada, opening in Charlotte, NC, U.S.A. on June 21, and finishing in Houston, TX, on Aug 18 (dates listed below), to be followed by further dates around the World in 2013. The MAIDEN ENGLAND WORLD TOUR will closely mirror, in terms of production and content, the original 1988 concert video of the same name, shot on the “Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son Tour”. This opening section of the World Tour is the band’s most extensive visit to North America for many years and includes a number of cities the band have not played in a very long time, such as Charlotte, Atlanta, Buffalo, Indianapolis and Salt Lake City.

In most venues, tickets will go on sale on March 2 and 3 but watch this site or check local venue information for fuller details. Fan Club members should check out ironmaiden.com for exclusive first day ticket presales and contest to be ‘First To The Barrier’.

MAIDEN ENGLAND marks the third chapter in the History of Iron Maiden, a journey which began in 2004 with The Early Days DVD and subsequent 2005 Early Days Tour. Part Two followed in 2008 with the Live After Death DVD – the seminal 1984 concert recorded at Long Beach Arena (L.A) during the World Slavery Tour – and the band embarking on their groundbreaking Somewhere Back In Time World Tour 2008/9, which saw them play to over two million fans in almost 40 countries.

Metallica’s “Hot New” Festival Announcement

Since I’ve started to try and use the PiercingMetal Musings blog to showcase some of the larger tour news, this recent event was an absolutely must discuss with you as I was super curious what you all thought about the news. Here we go.

The other day the press release came out which announced that the one and only Metallica would be headlining a festival of their own creation with the people of C3 Presents and this would go under the moniker of “Orion Music Festival and More”. The music part is pretty self explanatory but the “and more” is apparently slated for the aspect of “lifestyle and arts”. The press release stated that Metallica would of course headline both nights of this two-day festival and across the span of the nights would perform “Ride The Lightning” and “The Black Album” in their entirety.

The Rockstar Mayhem Fest 2012 Lineup & Dates Are In!

Yep. The names have been named and for the most part the dates have been finalized and in our constant effort to keep our site readers in the loop about some of the more important happenings upon the concert scene we are making mention on our blog. Take a look at who’s playing at this one.

Since it’s easier to keep abreast of the dates for the tour I linked to their official website in the logo way up above and of course down below at the close of this post for good measure. So what do you all think about this lineup? We have Slipknot headlining the tour and Slayer as direct support with Anthrax, The Devil Wears Prada, Asking Alexandria, As I Lay Dying, Whitechapel and High On Fire along for the run as well. I’m very interested in hearing what you all think about this day long affair.

Verily, The 70,000 Tons Of Metal Cruise II Leaves Today…..

….but PiercingMetal.com is NOT on board with the Metal maniacs who are going to be indulging themselves in this super cool event. Mind you I am not ranting about this at all and wanted to instead wish everyone who is headed for the Heavy Metal high seas a fantastic time. Okay so perhaps I am just a wee bit jealous of you if you are going but the logistics were not there for me to be in attendance and do it up properly by documenting the adventure for the readership. The fact that NYC is finally experiencing some bone cold temperatures and we just had some snow makes me sigh a little bit and wish for warmer climes. Oh well, this was just not meant to be as I have already said.

Prepare Ye Metalheads For The Summer Slaughter Of 2011

I just saw the poster for the 2011 edition of the Summer Slaughter Tour and I figured that I would post it for the Metal Republic to check out and discuss the bands that are participating for this go round.   Unless something changes for whatever reason the show will be headlined by Black Dahlia Murder and come with direct support from Whitechapel.  The rest of the bands involved are Darkest Hour, Dying Fetus, Six Feet Under, As Blood Runs Black, Oceano, Fleshrot Apocalypse and the halftime show will be a special performance by Powerglove.  One of these things is NOT like the other eh?  Check out the poster below.

At this point in time I am not yet sure I am even going to attend because Spring has only just arrived and this is many months away.  I’ve seen a number of the bands in action before but if a good number of Metal friends are planning on convening at this then it could sway my vote.   What are your thoughts on the event and the participants?  I’d love to hear from you all on it.
