It’s been a couple of years since Decapitated has been over here to pummel our Metal senses with their throttling presentation and that makes me happy to share the news that they are in fact returning for a number of interesting dates for the masses. The first group finds the group on the headlining stage with two bands that I have not yet heard of while the second grouping finds them supporting the always devastating At The Gates. Whew, I hope Metalkind can withstand this sort of assault. Check out the poster and the press release and then I will return for some additional thoughts.
The Press Release:
Polish technical death metallers DECAPITATED, will return to conquer North America once again this upcoming January! Just prior to being direct support to AT THE GATES on their U.S. tour, the band will do their own headlining run with support coming from BLACK BREATH and THEORIES.
Founding guitarist Vogg comments:
“We’re very excited to announce that we will be returning to North America in January and February as a part of the AT THE GATES tour, along with our first headline dates in over 3 years. As you probably know due to unexpected problems with U.S.C.I.S. we were forced to cancel our tour with SOULFLY in October this year. We can’t wait to get back and play for our loyal fans all over North America and we hope to see you there! Nothing will stop us this time!!!”
2015 is coming to a close faster and faster as we head into the holidays and then prepare our musical minds to welcome in the brand new 2016; This fact doesn’t prevent the occasional tour from being announced and while I always love learning that Marillion is planning on some US visits, I admit I was surprised to hear about dates that will not be happening for almost a year. Check out the promo art, press release and disclosed dates below. I’ll return with some more opinion afterward.
The Press Release:
(December 9, 2015) – Triumphant cries can be heard across the pond as Prog fans celebrate the return of Marillion to North America in 2016 with thirteen dates next fall beginning on Friday, October 21 in San Francisco – full routing below. Special Guest John Wesley will support for the run of dates – a frequent guest at their bi-annual conventions. Tickets will go on sale this Friday, December 11, fans can visit marillion.com for more info on each date.
Marillion will be on the road for much of 2016 in support of their forthcoming 18th studio album releasing in the spring via partnership with PledgeMusic announced earlier this year. The DIY pioneers have had a direct relationship with their devoted following creating a new business model of crowdfunding back in 1997, long before Kickstarter and GoFundMe provided an opportunity for artists and filmmakers alike. Their sound ruled the airwaves and the video waves for many years thanks to their wonderful melodies and incredibly exotic music videos that you would easily see on MTV (yes that happened once believe it or not), and I am speaking of none other than Duran Duran. The band recently announced their 2016 “Paper Gods Tour” to support their latest album of the same name and they will be bringing along Nile Rodgers and Chic as their special guests. Check out the massive press release that I received along with some artwork and the dates. I will return at the close with some additional thoughts.
The Press Release:
December 8, 2015 — (Los Angeles, CA) — In what is promising to be one of the most eagerly anticipated tours of 2016, multi-platinum superstars Duran Duran have announced that they will hit the road for an extensive North American arena and amphitheater tour next year in support of their critically acclaimed album Paper Gods. CHIC, led by guitarist Nile Rodgers, will appear as special guests on almost all of the dates with an additional support act to be announced. Rodgers served as a producer on Paper Gods and has enjoyed a long collaborative history with Duran Duran.

The first runs through April with shows up and down the East Coast of America into Canada, including Washington DC, Brooklyn, NY, Atlanta, Austin and Montreal. As the temperature drops in NYC (a line that is actually being written with a wry grin since NYC feels more like the beginnings of Spring at the moment) the tour announcements are coming in fast and furious and are keeping an already busy schedule of Metal reporting. That being said it was only a few hours ago that we learned of this upcoming trek by those titans of the Death Metal Cannibal Corpse who will be looking to melt whatever winter ends up being like for us with help from Obituary, Cryptopsy and Abysmal Dawn. I’ve snagged the poster and press copy for you below and will add some thoughts at the close so do read on.
The Press Release:
CANNIBAL CORPSE will kick off 2016 with one of the most bludgeoning death metal tour lineups of the year! The over month-long trek, presented by The Noise, will tear across North America beginning on February 12th and run through March 20th. The band will be joined by fellow Floridian death metal progenitors, Obituary, as direct support, followed by Canada’s Cryptopsy, and Los Angeles’ Abysmal Dawn.
