Fear Factory Shall Bring Fans The “Demanufacture” Tour

I’m catching up with a few tour announcements after having been entrenched in the Halls of Javits for the recent Toy Fair 2016 and since some great stuff was recently unveiled I figured it was better late than never. That being said, one of the tours will find the Industrial Metal masters in Fear Factory delivering their “Demanufacture” album in full. They’ll be joined by Soilwork who are a band that always delivers so check out the poster and the dates below and then I’ll return for some closing thoughts.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: As I mentioned above, I have been a little behind based on a grueling convention so I will be keeping these thoughts brief. Of course there isn’t much to be said about a tour by Fear Factory with support from Soilwork. That is a crushing pairing for sure and since FF is delivering one of their seminal works with “Demanufacture” I think that anyone who attends is going to have a blast at the shows. What do you think of the touring package? Will you be attending? Let me know in the comments. Oh yeah and as the missing dates come to light I shall be appending the post. Stay tuned.

The Governor’s Ball 2016 Lineup Is Revealed

Regular readers know that I’ve been posting numerous touring runs here on the website and when time permits, I am also getting around to the occasional US based festival event. Sometimes you lucky ducks are even finding information about those European offerings across the pond to spark the Metal traveler in you. As a matter of fact I recently posted about the 2016 Hellfest and the Barcelona Rock Fest over the past few days which brings me to the massive musical event taking place in NYC on Randall’s Island. The call this The Governor’s Ball and the poster of the three-day event is below. I’ll return with some thoughts afterwards so check it out.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: I have to be honest with you all that this is a whopping “0 f**ks” sort of event for me based on who is playing. Yeah there are some pretty awesome acts among the whole bunch but more than half of it makes me pine for the likes of the festivals that I just recently mentioned above. I don’t know if the US can ever expect the equivalent of the Wacken Open Air Festival or Tuska Open Air Festival since we haven’t seen one yet. Last year we saw the end of the Rockstar Mayhem festival and you tried and true Metalheads know that the Summer Slaughter is but the tip of the iceberg in terms of full on Metal offerings. I’m sure you’re shaking your head at this since we have also seen events like the Food Truck and Rock Carnival and the upcoming Rock’n Derby but I mean a full on Heavy Metal Festival with the kinds of acts that one only sees at Wacken. Not another festival being headlined by Five Finger Death Punch, Rob Zombie or Korn. Yeah we enjoy those bands for sure at the Metal Command HQ but having them command the night on so many of these gets tiresome. At least to me. That said, what do you readers think of The Governor’s Ball 2016 lineup and is this something you are going to attend even though there is barely any Metal represented. Let me know in the comments section.

Presenting The Full Lineup For “Rock Fest” Barcelona 2016

Yesterday I shared with the readership the full lineup of this years Hellfest which is taking place in France later on in the year. We’re not heading there I’m sad to say but when I learned of the full lineup for the Rock Fest which is held in Barcelona, Spain, I figured to give them some equal time and share it with you all to get your thoughts and to potentially make you aware early enough for you to make some vacation plans

PiercingMetal Thoughts:
So let’s take a glance at this one as we did with the Hellfest and as you can see a few of the most prominent names are Iron Maiden, Whitesnake, Twisted Sister, Amon Amarth, Blind Guardian and many, many more that will make your fist pump higher into the air than ever before. No Five Finger Death Punch or Papa Roach and any of the other bands that the US festival circuit ALWAYS seems to have on the main stages. Now don’t get me wrong because I enjoy both of those groups but I have heard many Metal Legions grumble about how we don’t do Metal Festivals properly while Europe wins out over and over and over. Yeah we used to have Ozzfest but even that was only so good because you had half awesome and half GTFO of here. We definitely need a US version of the Wacken Open Air festival at this point but I guess its still rather hard to finance so I will keep my complaints to a minimum about it all. Now what do you readers think of this festival and will you be brushing up on your Spanish to head out there and be one of the masses? Let me know in the comments section below. I always love bantering about this stuff.

Apocalyptica Announces Spring Headlining Tour

Logo - Apocalyptica

When we last got a visit from the guys in Apocalyptica here in the good old USA, they were actually opening up for Sixx A.M. which is the band that features Nikki Sixx. This support spot surprised a lot of fans because we had been so used to them headlining with each and every visit. Those of us who saw the band during that tour also got to see the groups new singer Frankie Perez and while it was a great live experience as always, the support slot was far too short. Now it’s time for the band to take the headlining stage once more as they continue to support their “Shadowmaker” album and if you scroll below the poster you will get the full press release and tour dates. I’ll be back afterwards with some additional thoughts. Check it out.

Tour - Apocalyptica - Spring 2016

The Press Release:
February 9th, 2016 (New York, NY) – The Finnish, cello-wielding metal quintet, APOCALYPTICA have announced they will bring their unique and exciting live show to 23 cities across the U.S. The tour kicks off on April 23 in Sayreville, NJ at Starland Ballroom, with bands 10 Years and Failure Anthem serving as support. See full dates below. Tickets go on sale to the public Friday February 12th,but members of the band’s Fan Club will have the special opportunity to buy their tickets a day early on Thursday February 11th.

“It’s really exciting for us to return to the US for another headline tour and we can’t wait to present a lot of new material from album Shadowmaker,” says APOCALYPTICA. “Our singer Franky Perez, who is a real entertainer, will definitely bring an interesting new edge to our show for those familiar with our live set. We are looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones all across the U.S.”

Hellfest 2016 Final Lineup Revealed

For those Metal Legions who were planning on a trip to France to enjoy The Hellfest for 2016, here is the fully revealed final lineup roster. It seems to be quite a good one so check it out below and then I will toss in some added thoughts.

Poster - Hellfest - 2016

PiercingMetal Thoughts: This sure does look like a great event to enjoy during the summer and as you USA residents and fans of the Metal will likely agree, is another example of just how good the European side of the fence puts together a massive Metal event. I mean come on now, Black Sabbath, Ghost, King Diamond, Rammstein, Volbeat and Twisted Sister to name a few. Whew. My heart is palpitating just at the thought of all those bands on the same stage. As I write this there is some hubbub around the band Down’s inclusion and that based on the festival promoter refusing to drop Down from the roster that a lot of government funding was pulled back from it. This all stems from Phil Anselmo’s racist outburst which has been the talk of the Interwebs for a few weeks now and based on France’s strict policies on this sort of thing, made them force their hand on the promoter. I think its nice that the promoter wishes to move on from this ugliness but I think that the entire festival should not be risked just to leave Down on the bill (and I am a fan of the bands music for awhile now). Let’s see what happens with this going forward. Honestly, I don’t see myself getting to France for this festival but I wondered what you readers think of it and if some of you are planning on attending. Perhaps one of you can bring us back a t-shirt 🙂 Let me know your thoughts on this festival in the comments section.
