Progressive Rock Fans Say “YES” To Their Summer Tour 2014

“Let there be Prog” is what fans will be saying as the news about the summer tour by Yes and with this go round they will be playing two of their incredible albums in full. Since the press copy is rather lengthy I will keep it brief here but will return with my own opinions at the close. Here you go.

Tour - Yes - Summer 2014

The Press Release:
Throughout 2013, the iconic and Grammy-winning rock band YES marked a career first by performing a triple-header concert featuring three of their classic albums in their entirety, all in one concert. For 2014, the band is back to rock crowds nationwide with a brand new show. The 35-date summer tour will feature YES performing–in their entirety–1971’s groundbreaking album FRAGILE for the first-time ever and a repeat performance from last year’s tour of 1972’s CLOSE TO THE EDGE, followed by an encore of the band’s greatest hits. Kicking off July 8 in Boston, the tour will then stop at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall July 10 before making its way throughout the Northeast, hitting Wallingford, CT, Westbury, NY, Newport, RI, Washington, DC, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and more. Among their many tour stops, YES will perform in Detroit, Madison, Chicago, Nashville, Louisville, Atlanta, St. Petersburg, Orlando, Houston, Dallas, Denver, Phoenix, Las Vegas, San Diego and San Jose before wrapping August 24 at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. See full itinerary below.

“A Night With Janis Joplin” Begins Gramercy Theatre Residency On 4/10/2014

After having a successful run on Broadway at the Lyceum Theatre from September 2013 until just this past February; “A Night With Janis Joplin” will be re-opening and taking up residency at The Gramercy Theatre with shows beginning on April 10th.

Banner - Night With Janis Joplin - 2014

The show features Mary Bridget Davies as Janis Joplin while Kacee Clanton is the Janis Joplin alternate. Its produced by Daniel Chilewich, Todd Gershwin and Michael Cohl with choreography by Patricia Wilcox. The story has been written and directed by Randy Johnson and brings the audience into the music of the late great performer. Musically this has been very well received and according to research it receives numerous standing ovations nightly. Through “A Night With Janis Joplin” the music and her story continue to live on for today’s interested fan.

Here is a video to the opening night that was on YouTube. It gives you a glimpse into what is in store for you as a member of the audience. It sure looks like fun to me so I will be making a plan to see it during the course of the posted three months worth of dates. Will you be checking this show out at all? Does it interest you?

Purchase Tickets to “A Night With Janis Joplin”: HERE

A link to the cast album can be found below in case you are interested and I’ve embedded one for some “Essential” Joplin tunes as well.

Oh and before I forget. Its rather obvious that with three months booked solid for this residency that the NYC Metal and Rock Fans will lose this as a venue to attend for their shows for the time being. With that being the case I say don’t worry because I will be keeping everyone up to date with the listings of importance via our handy, dandy PiercingMetal Events Calendar so do please bookmark it and share with friends.

“Head Like A Black Hole Sun”: Nine Inch Nails & Soundgarden To Tour – 2014

St. Patrick’s Day one loaded with revelry, band lineup dramas and tour announcements and since I had to focus my time on the lineup dramatic stuff I waited until today to get the posting about the tour announcements to you. For those who might have missed what I am talking about, it seems as though Angela Gossow has stepped down from Arch Enemy and now the band will have Alissa White-Gluz from The Agonist in her place. Alissa’s former band mates also announced her replacement and as far as one of the tours being announced, we learned that KISS and Def Leppard would hit the road for a kick ass Summer tour. Now onto the other big tour announcement as Industrial Metal legends Nine Inch Nails will pair up for a co-headlining tour with Soundgarden. I’ve copied much of the press release for you to get the best and most correct information but I will share some thoughts and more at the close. Here’s the poster.
