The Details: The third annual Anime NYC convention is rapidly approaching and this event seems to get bigger and bigger with each passing year. For those still in the unaware, this is a convention that is 100% dedicated to the Pop Culture phenomenon of Anime, Manga and other related Japanese entertainment. It’s a three-day event that will overwhelm the senses and delight each and every attendee based on the special events, special guests and screenings, available products and scores of incredible cosplay of some of the most popular Anime in existence. If you’ve followed the Official PiercingMetal Instagram at all, you know full well that we just love the convention circuit and do our best to support amazing events such as this one. Now, thanks to the fine folks at Leftfield Media, my convention minded Anime friends will have the chance to win a Weekend Pass to the convention and this means ALL THREE DAYS of it. This is our second time doing a contest for this convention and we thank the fine folks at Leftfield Media for offering us this awesome giveaway. Historically speaking, this marks our 260th contest and finds this outlet passing 1700 tickets given away. Onward and upward I always say so get ready and get set because the details on how to participate in this one are coming up next along with some important guidelines. Let’s go.
When and Where: November 15th – 17th at Jacob Javits Center, 34th Street and 11th Avenue NYC
To Participate: When I did the contest for the 2018 Anime NYC, I really put the interested people to work. It was my very first Pop Culture event contest and we were dealing with a full 3-Day pass for said affair and that was my rationale. Since we are again dealing with full weekend passes I am putting you to work once more and this premise will be a fun one for sure. Considering how many awesome live action superhero movies have been coming out over the last few years for this contest YOU are the producer of an upcoming Anime live motion picture. Most of my contest questions will need your answers based on this premise. There are no wrong answers so let’s have some fun. Continue reading Win A Weekend Pass To Anime NYC 2019→
The Details: According to my records, it’s been five years since the last time that I held a contest for a Nile show and when you consider how often they come around that is far too long for my liking. I once noted that the band Nile had been on a destructive Metal path since their inception in 1993 and over the last few years their impact and influence has visibly grown more than tenfold. The bands own Metal maturity continues to broaden with each consecutive release and they will be delivering plenty of classics along with their newest material from the “Vile Nilotic Rites” album which comes out only days before the gig. The tour is “A Vile Caustic Attack” and brings along the band Terrorizer and more and thanks to the fine folks at Live Nation, some of the PiercingMetal readership will be attending this concert for free at the Gramercy Theatre.
It wasn’t too long ago that we discussed William DuVall here on the website with the first single from his now released album (seen HERE) and the announcement about a short tour (discussed HERE). Now its time to add this talented musician to our run of awesome contests. Read on down below.
The Details: William DuVall is the voice behind the mighty Alice In Chains and now that they have completed a massive tour, it’s time to deliver something much different to his world of fans. As noted just above, he’s recently released a solo acoustic album and has embarked on a brief tour at a number of the City Winery locations. With the NYC space being worked on at the moment, this show will be held at the awesome Cutting Room. This will be a special night of music and perhaps even some stories behind the new music he has released. It’s going to be a great time for sure and thanks to the marketing powers that be at The City Winery, some of the PiercingMetal readership will be attending this event at The Cutting Room for absolutely free. Let’s go over some of the details on how you participate in this giveaway.
The Details: “Murder In The Front Row” is a compelling documentary about the early days of the Bay Area Thrash Metal scene and I’ve discussed the film in my OFFICIAL TRAILER post along with news about a special NEW YORK COMIC CON PANEL already. Here is more of an official stand on the feature.
“Murder In The Front Row: The San Francisco Bay Area Thrash Metal Story. In the early 1980’s, a small group of dedicated Bay Area headbangers shunned the hard rock of MTV and Hollywood hairspray bands in favor of a more dangerous brand of metal that became known as thrash. From the tape trading network to the clubs to the record stores and fanzines, director Adam Dubin reveals how the scene nurtured the music and the music spawned a movement. Murder In The Front Row is told through powerful first person testimony and stunning animation and photography. The film is a social study of a group of young people defying the odds and building something essential for themselves. Featuring interviews with Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Exodus, Testament, Death Angel, Possessed and many more. Narrated by Brian Posehn.” (c/o IMDB)
The Details: Alex Skolnick is a virtuoso guitar player whose name is well known in the Metal music scene for his wealth of work with the legendary Testament as well as thrilling music with Metal Allegiance and his own Alex Skolnick Trio. Now, Alex will be a part of the BackStory Events by Guitar World magazine where there will be chat, Q&A and some live music demonstrated. It’s going to be a great time for sure and thanks to the powers that be at The Cutting Room, some of the PiercingMetal readership will be attending this event for absolutely free. I’m excited since this will mark my first-ever ticket giveaway for The Cutting Room venue. Let’s go over some of the details on how you participate in this giveaway.
When and Where: Sunday, September 29th (7PM) at The Cutting Room; 44 East 32nd Street (NYC)
To Participate: I always seem to ask for three things so let’s keep that process in place. Interested parties need to submit “3” things about Alex’s musical contributions that you have found most impressive and how they inspired you. You can talk about any of the bands he has performed in, or a Guitar Showcase he might have publicly done or even some of the killer shows he has performed in. A bonus inquiry is why you need to be at this event. Convince me with the whole lot of them since these take time to compose and I make you do the same. Before you submit your entry, please be aware of some guidelines. Continue reading Win A Ticket To Alex Skolnick @ The Cutting Room On 9/29/2019→
