The Details: I’ve been a fan of The Sweet for as long as I can remember and yet despite this few decades of appreciation have never seen the band in concert. Unless I’ve misplaced an album, there are about a dozen in my music library and while this is the US version of the group (yes there are TWO “The Sweets” in 2018), this one features original bassist Steve Priest and our old friend from ZO2 Mr. Paulie Z. and a cadre of kickass musicians. Even more exciting is the fact that Tragedy, the all Heavy Metal tribute to The Bee Gees will be opening up – so what am I getting at here? Well, thanks to the mighty minds in the Marketing division, we are putting some of the PiercingMetal readers into this show for free. Check it out down below.
When and Where: Thursday, April 26th @ Gramercy Theatre (127 East 23rd Street, NYC)
To Participate: I usually ask for three things about the band or solo artist that is playing but I have a feeling that with The Sweet being a legendary act that has retained a cult level of status that many might not be 100% up on them. That said, I am asking that you hit YouTube, Spotify and Wikipedia to familiarize yourself just a little bit and then tell me three reasons why this show is of interest to you. I’ll be picking out the submissions that speak to me the most and will be letting them know directly. Before we continue here are some of the usual guidelines to keep the process straightforward. This contest will run until supplies run out or on the morning of the show. Whichever comes first.

The Details: Richie Kotzen is a virtuoso guitar slinger who has been delivering the goods for many years and while he first came to awareness during his stint with Glam Rockers Poison, it was as a solo artist and later a founding member of The Winery Dogs that he gained the most prominence. His rich, soulful sound and skills on the guitar are best experienced live and that makes this announcement all the more special for us here at the PiercingMetal Media Command HQ. You might have read our posting about a brand-new venue in NYC known as Sony Hall and if not click HERE to be up to speed on this information. This will mark the very first contest for this venue and also the very first for Richie Kotzen and the details on how to participate are below for you to try your luck.
When and Where: Thursday, April 19th @ Sony Hall (235 West 46th Street, NYC)
To Participate: As Richie’s name is pretty much widely known by this point in time, I’m going to keep it to my request of three reasons or things that you most enjoyed about his career. These can revisit memories of his work with Poison, Winery Dogs and of course as a solo performer. You can mix them all up if you like but just be sure that there are three items in your entry. Oh yeah and there is a catch this time around. To qualify for this one, we are also asking our participants to “Shout It Out Loud” for the PiercingMetal social networks and that means using Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to show your love. It’s simple, just open your preferred network and share a screenshot and say “Follow PiercingMetal.com” with a link to our respective page. Do all three if you want to increase your chances of winning. Now, as usual here are some guidelines to make sure we are on the same page.

The Details: According to my records, this latest contest will mark the fifth time that I have done a giveaway for Y&T tickets and that is fantastic. So much so, I am repeating the scoop from a past contest to get this one online fast and furious. Here we go. I’ve said this before and I will say it again. Y&T are one of the best Hard Rock bands in history if you ask me. I mentioned once that I got into the band very late but have done what I can with the site to support their efforts. If you have not seen them yet you might want to get up on that since I can honestly say that there has never been a show done by them that I didn’t feel pulled out all the stops and left the audience screaming for more. Thought the lineup has changed since the beginning the group is still commanded by the great Dave Meniketti who has those powerful pipes and plays that guitar like it’s nobody’s business. All of this makes me happy to announce that the band will once again be returning to the stage of the B.B. King Blues Club and thanks to the venue some of the PiercingMetal readers are going to get to enjoy the show for free. Cool right? Read more below on how this works.
When and Where: Wednesday, February 21st B.B. King Blues Club 7:00pm (237 West 42nd Street NYC)

About The Film: “Keep the party going when Sammy Hagar’s epic multi-night birthday bash comes to movie theatres this December. Recorded live from his Cabo Wabo Cantina in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, this one-night event will feature the best of the performances and party action from the four-day rock spectacular, plus a behind-the-scenes look at the music that spans the career of the one and only Red Rocker. “ Thanks to the fine folks at Fathom Events, some of the readers of the PiercingMetal website will be seeing it for free during the “one night only” big screen presentation.
When and Where: Tuesday, December 5th – 7:30PM @ AMC Empire 25 (234 West 42nd St -NYC)
To Participate: This will be our final contest for the 2017 year and in the interest of time I am sticking to my normal format of giving me three solid reasons why the film interests you. You can talk about Sammy live in concert as a solo artist, with Van Halen or maybe even with HSAS (bonus points if you knew that one). Stuff about his body of work and how awesome it is – just convince me about your interest in Sammy. Here are some entry guidelines.

The Details: Anyone who attends the massive NY Comic Con event knows that it’s a mega-dose of awesome sights and scenes and colorful characters of many kinds. An all day wandering of such a happening finds the attendees needing to unwind a little bit and that makes this latest contest something awesome to showcase as CEG Presents their annual “Cosplay Cruise”. This year’s event will feature Guest Hosts like noted cosplayers Soni Aralynn, Kristen Lanae, Brit Bliss along with Ming Chen from Comic Book Men. There will be prizes and special events across the journey, a DJ and a cash bar and concessions for the 18+ attendee and thanks to the awesome promoters at CEG Presents, PiercingMetal is going to be sending a few lucky Cosplayers onto the high seas (well, out into the Hudson River to be more precise) to enjoy this event. Read more about the location and how to participate down below.
When and Where: Friday, October 6th 8pm @ Circle Line Cruises (West 42nd Street and 12th Avenue).
To Participate: This event contest is for the Cosplayers only and not the “Cosplay Curious” and with that being the case I’ve fashioned a few questions that you need to answer as your entry. They are pretty involved so you might want to jot them all down on a memo and then past it into the response on the contest to make sure you don’t lose connection – Here we go.
A: What is the best Cosplay that you have ever done and why?
B: How long did your finest work take you to complete?
C: Name three different Cosplays you have done over the years.
D: Tell me some Cosplays that you hope to do in the near future.
E: What Cosplay do you envision bringing to the Cosplay Cruise if you are one of our winners?
F: Show us a visual of yourself in one of your awesome outfits by embedding a link to an image (it can be to your public Facebook Page, Twitter or Instagram.
