The Details: Anime NYC is a brand-new convention that is dedicated to the Pop Culture phenomena of Anime, Manga and other related Japanese entertainment. It’s a three-day event that will overwhelm the senses and delight each and every attendee based on the special events, special guests and screenings, available products and scores of incredible cosplay. If you’ve followed the Official PiercingMetal Instagram at all, you know full well that we just love the convention circuit and do our best to support amazing events such as this one. Now, thanks to the fine folks at Leftfield Media, my convention minded Anime friends will have the chance to win a Weekend Pass to the convention (and this means ALL THREE DAYS of it). It’s our first-ever convention giveaway and according to my record keeping, will be the 250th Contest done by the PiercingMetal.com website so that’s rather awesome if I do say so myself. I’ve lined out what I am asking you to do and provided suitable guidelines for this one. Let’s go.
When and Where: November 16th-18th, at Jacob Javits Center, 34th Street and 11th Avenue NYC
To Participate: Here’s what I’d like the interested parties to do. Since this is an Anime themed convention, I am playing along into those lines so be sure to follow closely and complete all the requirements. Trust me its easier than it might sound. I’d recommend that you compose this on a laptop or tablet since sometimes doing these on the mobile phones cause the copy to be lost if you’ve a service interruption. Let’s go. The Indie Rock band Yo La Tengo is revisiting their Hanukkah tradition of an eight day span of shows at one of their favorite NYC venues the Bowery Ballroom. They did this last year and as you know if you celebrate the holiday, a gig will happen on each of the nights of Hanukkah 2018. In addition to solid support acts, their fans can expect guest stars at every performance and a lot of special memories and merchandise. If this band interests you at all, you’re going to want to get your tickets as early as possible as last years events all sold out completely well before the month that the holiday even hit.
The Show Dates:
Dec 2, 2018: Bowery Ballroom, NYC
Dec 3, 2018: Bowery Ballroom, NYC
Dec 4, 2018: Bowery Ballroom, NYC
Dec 5, 2018: Bowery Ballroom, NYC
Dec 6, 2018: Bowery Ballroom, NYC
Dec 7, 2018: Bowery Ballroom, NYC
Dec 8, 2018: Bowery Ballroom, NYC
Dec 9, 2018: Bowery Ballroom, NYC
PiercingMetal Thoughts: Hanukkah is not a holiday that we celebrate over at the PiercingMetal HQ but we are always out to help others celebrate their events when the invite is extended. I’ve not followed YLT before but I know that a couple of albums were gifted to me over the years and its interesting stuff. One can’t always listen to only Heavy Metal music after all. My schedule is usually tight during the holidays in general but if I can make one of these shows I will surely report on it for you here on the website. Are you a fan of the band? What do you think about their returning residency for Hanukkah? Chime in down below and while you are at it check out the bands latest release and other stuff via Amazon.com.
The Details: For those who have followed my Contests area on PiercingMetal some of the text in this might sound a little bit repetitive and I will be straight with you and say that it’s almost a word for word redo with a light modification. The guys in King’s X are road warriors and one of the best sounding bands that I have ever had the pleasure of seeing in concert. It’s a fact that they’ve never disappointed their fans yet in terms of great gigs and solid recordings. Those of you who have similar experiences are likely nodding your heads along to the statement and yet despite this there are far too many people that have not a single idea about what this band holds in their musical grasp. 2018 finds them still pushing forward with the musical charge and on the cusp of their fortieth anniversary as a band. That said, I am once again super excited to say that thanks to the folks from CEG Presents, some lucky PiercingMetal fans will be hitting the show for free when they perform at Sony Hall. This will mark my fifth contest for the band and brings the PiercingMetal outlet a little bit closer to our 1700th ticket. Isn’t that cool? We like to think so. The rules on how to participate are below.
When and Where: Wednesday, August 22nd at Sony Hall (235 West 46th Street) 7PM Show
To Participate: Tell me three things that you like the most about King’s X as a band and why you need to be a part of this show. I will be picking a few lucky winners out of the responders and letting them know right below their comment so make it a good one. We ask that you please follow this criteria: Continue reading Win A Ticket To See Kings X @ Sony Hall On 8/22/2018→
The Details: The 2nd Annual “Fear The Riff” Effects and Guitar Gear Expo is closing in on us and I’ve lined out some of the finer details about it on posts that you can find HERE. In summary, this will be the event to participate in if you sling that guitar or bass as a working professional or are just an enthusiast. Thanks to the promoter of the exposition, PiercingMetal is going to put several fans into the event. Please read on down below on how to participate.
When and Where: Saturday, August 11th @ Brooklyn Expo Center (72 Noble Street, Brooklyn 11222)
To Participate: I’m keeping this one simple so just answer the questions. Mind you its okay if you aren’t a musician, you can still win this one despite my wanting to get players into the event with this giveaway.
1. If you are a musician, what Instrument Do You Play?
2. What interests you most about this particular Expo?
3. What’s your favorite “2” Guitar Gear or Effects Companies.
4. If you answered #1 as a player. Do you play in a band or are just a basement warrior? Working musicians are encouraged to link their bands page in the form when they fill in their name. Consider this a Shameless Plug entry. Continue reading Win A Ticket To The “Fear The Riff” Effect Expo On 8/11/2018→
The Details: I’ve been a fan of The Sweet for as long as I can remember and yet despite this few decades of appreciation have never seen the band in concert. Unless I’ve misplaced an album, there are about a dozen in my music library and while this is the US version of the group (yes there are TWO “The Sweets” in 2018), this one features original bassist Steve Priest and our old friend from ZO2 Mr. Paulie Z. and a cadre of kickass musicians. Even more exciting is the fact that Tragedy, the all Heavy Metal tribute to The Bee Gees will be opening up – so what am I getting at here? Well, thanks to the mighty minds in the Marketing division, we are putting some of the PiercingMetal readers into this show for free. Check it out down below.
When and Where: Thursday, April 26th @ Gramercy Theatre (127 East 23rd Street, NYC)
To Participate: I usually ask for three things about the band or solo artist that is playing but I have a feeling that with The Sweet being a legendary act that has retained a cult level of status that many might not be 100% up on them. That said, I am asking that you hit YouTube, Spotify and Wikipedia to familiarize yourself just a little bit and then tell me three reasons why this show is of interest to you. I’ll be picking out the submissions that speak to me the most and will be letting them know directly. Before we continue here are some of the usual guidelines to keep the process straightforward. This contest will run until supplies run out or on the morning of the show. Whichever comes first. Continue reading Win A Ticket To See The Sweet @ Gramercy Theatre On 4/26/2018→
