Hello again my fellow Trekkies, I’m so glad that you have beamed over to the Javits Center with me for my continuing exploration into the “Star Trek: Mission New York” convention. The event took over the famed convention center this past weekend and I’m continuing on with the second batch of fifty visuals for your data banks. Like many of the conventions nowadays, there is an app for that and many have downloaded the Star Trek Mission New York one because they could connect to their respective social networks and each other for the sake of better interaction. Prep the landing party we are heading to surface.
With the “Star Trek” original series hitting its 50th Anniversary, we saw a lot of popular games with their own specialty edition to be purchased. For instance here is a Trivial Pursuit that is dedicated to the five year mission.
These little figurines are called “Funedibles” and they cross the Star Trek mythology with uhm muffins. I didn’t understand it but people do like weirdness and little collectibles of this kind so sure go ahead.
Now this was something very interesting to see set up. A life-size replica of the classic Bridge of the Starship Enterprise. They had part of the deck and the command chair for Captain James T. Kirk. Apparently, these are the folks behind “Trekonderoga” which is an event way up in Ticonderoga, NY and this is an officially sanctioned replica of the bridge.
As you can see, the patrons of the convention were permitted to explore and get a photo taken with their own device for posterity and this was being done for absolutely free so kudos to this group of people. That was awesome and I definitely want to get one done before the convention is over. Stay tuned for that photo.
There were also a lot of replica weapons and smaller props which I have added to this posting.
That’s some kind of line so perhaps we don’t do the photo today after all.
Spatially speaking, I felt this Artist Alley area might have been a little too big since there was a lot of open and unused space. This is where folks were sitting and eating or relaxing but there could have been some additional vendors. I believe that this was the first convention of this kind for the ReedPOP folks at this space so perhaps we will find more on the next go round.
The USPS had a special edition stamp which was being issued on the day of the convention and all of the stamp collecting Trekkies were lining up to get it authenticated or numbered or whatever the stamp collectors do. It’s not my own particular hobby so I am not aware on some of the processes.
Alright my friends, we have successfully completed chapter two of our mission but as I said in the close of chapter one, there are still other sectors of the galaxy to examine so stay tuned. In the meantime please click through on some of the website links to see what else they have to offer you and if you enjoy Instagram, I have loaded up a whole lot of additional images to the profile. Click HERE and give us a follow and like, like, like those images since Starfleet is watching our movements.
