It feels like forever ago when I spoke about the single “Hard Habit” by Jack Russell’s Great White and considering that I did that at the end of 2014 it pretty much was. Especially with how fast our daily lives move these days. If you missed that review just click HERE to see it. That being said it was great to hear a new single from the singer from his forthcoming album “He Saw It Comin’” which will be hitting the racks care of Frontiers Records in January of the New Year. Let’s discuss.
The overall vibe of the track harkens back to the classic Great White sound that introduced us to Russell in the first place and I didn’t mind that at all. It’s a smooth and steady number and according to the press copy I received, Russell had written this particular song about his wife’s not so pleasant childhood experiences. That makes it more of an intensely personal musical work and not one that many would be comfortable speaking about in public much less singing about. Kudos Jack. Musically the track is solid with great guitar work by Tony Montana and Robby Lochner with some great lead breaks. If you have been among the fans still rallying behind Jack Russell I am of the mindset that you will enjoy this. I look forward to hearing the full album when its released in January and cannot wait to hear Jack Russell’s Great White “Rock Me” once more.
