“I’ve developed a deep love for the United States over the years and simply cannot wait to visit this incredible land, drink in the atmosphere of the cities, and meet the awesome American audience.”

– Daniel Cavanagh

“I can’t wait. Such a cool line up. Three bands who move in different spheres while sharing the intent to create music that is honest, forward thinking and uninhibited. I first met Stephane from Alcest last year, discussing 90’s shoegaze bands in a forest in Lithuania! He is someone for whom I have great respect. Their music is melodic & soulful, full of dream-like imagery. Mamiffer are true artists. The dynamic mix of stark piano, crushing melancholic textures and choral reverie is something to behold. Exactly the kind of thing I’m into, so I’m really looking forward to it.”

– Vincent Cavanagh

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Right off the bat I have to say that there is nothing cooler than seeing a band who is making their way over to a part of the world where they had never ever been before. There is generally a very different level of excitement on the part of the touring group and the fans are that much more ardent in their support of their music. Trust me I know what I am talking about here and have seen numerous bands on their premiere jaunts to our neck of the woods. Some of the more memorable ones include Nightwish, HIM, Sonata Arctica and The 69 Eyes (okay a lot of Finnish stuff but I digress). Anathema did get here once before but they were stuck as only the two brothers playing acoustic numbers based on travel issues with the rest of the lineup and while that was a wonderful experience to behold it is nothing like listening to them at full command. Let’s not forget to give some kudos to bands like Alcest and Mammifer who are each building their own fan base and are really good as well. I’ve seen Alcest and I guess it was about a year ago and the crowd was hypnotized by their level of Shoe-Gaze musicality. The new album by Anathema is worthy of all the praise it has been getting and while the band has truly morphed into something else far different than their beginnings, the sound is just so pure and good. You can count me in for this tour when it hits my other home away from home at the Gramercy Theatre and you can bet your bottom dollar that I will be at Duke’s Bar beforehand enjoying some awesome eats and drink. What do you readers think about this particular tour? Will you be hitting it or are you choosing to miss out and hear about how awesome it was from your friends.
