When I posted the first trailer for this film I said how this third Wolverine film is the end of a terrific fun at the character by actor Hugh Jackman who is playing him one final time. As most of geekdom knows, he has been Wolverine in every X-Men related film property since they started and I thought that he was fantastic in the role. The film opens in March and will be here before you know it so I was happy to see a second trailer get released. Check it out below.
Set in 2024, Logan and Professor Charles Xavier must cope with the loss of the X-Men at the hands of a corporation led by Nathaniel Essex. With Logan’s healing abilities slowly fading and Xavier’s Alzheimer’s hampering his memory, Logan must defeat Essex with the help of a young girl named Laura Kinney, a female clone of Wolverine.
Hugh Jackman as James Howlett/Logan/Wolverine
Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier/Professor X
Richard E. Grant as Dr. Zander Rice
Boyd Holbrook as Donald Pierce
Stephen Merchant as Caliban
Dafne Keen as Laura Kinney/X-23
PiercingMetal Thoughts: With my thoughts for the first trailer I said “Though I’ve felt there were a few issues here and there with the Wolverine solo films, I did still enjoy them and am saddened to know this is our last with Jackman because he did a great job. My guess is that they are using some of the stuff in the Old Man Logan stories which is fine but I didn’t read any of that stuff so I’ve a limited background in the premise. There has been talk that Mr. Sinister is going to be the big bad but his name doesn’t appear yet in the Wikipedia entry where I pull some casting from so who knows. Perhaps they are keeping this a secret until the film release date is closer”. He’s still not properly listed but there is a reference in the Wiki about a “villainous mad scientist” and that could be him for sure. This film is going to be rated “R” like this past year’s “Deadpool” and I think that is a perfect fit for such a finale. I liked this trailer a lot more than the first one and we seem to have a lot of X-23 going on in the clip. My guess is the retirement of the original Wolverine will find her in any continuing X-Men films. What did you think about the trailer? Let me know in the comments section below.
